People are flooding to social media in shock after seeing Urban Outfitters put 'vintage' iPods up for sale.

Remember the good old days when you didn't own a smartphone and relied on listening to tunes through your iPod shuffle or mini?

In reality, those days weren't that long ago at all, although Urban Outfitter's description of the older version Apple iPods as 'vintage' certainly makes me feel ancient.

And if you did want to relive your youth, then the iPod is going to set you back a fair bit more than it did in the early 2000s too.

The fourth generation iPod came out in July 2004 - a small, shiny, colourful rectangle full of all your favourite hits.

You'd spend hours downloading songs to the tiny device which could fit in the palm of your hand or slot easily into a pocket whenever you fancied a dance around with both arms raised, screeching out a Katy Perry hit, pretending you were performing to an arena of thousands.

All the older generations of Apple's iPods are iconic and symbols of many our childhoods.

And yes, if we look back at our childhoods, that time of our life does seem a whole world away, but it wasn't that long ago - was it?!

Well, Urban Outfitters seems to think objects from the early 2000s can now be classified as 'vintage' and that - along with the price tag - is a lot for millennials to handle.

Urban Outfitters had pages listed selling older version iPods.

Lifestyle retailer Urban Outfitters listed items including the iPod Color (4th generation), iPod (4th generation) and iPod Classic (5th generation) on its website, according to 9to5mac.com

The website also notes the sale of the iPods coincides with the device's 22nd anniversary.

The item description for the Apple iPod Mini (1st Generation) MP4 Player reads: "First introduced in 2001, the iPod is the quintessential MP3 player, and this iPod Mini (2004) is the perfect blend of new millennium design with modern features.

"These iPods have been updated with an all-new battery and 128GB of flash storage so you’ll have plenty of space for all your favorite albums in a faster, sturdier package.

"Each iPod is kitted with an original deadstock Apple sync cable and headphones.

"This is a genuine piece of vintage retro tech - refurbished and restored by Retrospekt."

Oh, and the piece of 'vintage retro tech' will set you back $199 for an iPod mini, or $349.99 for an iPod classic 5th generation device.

For reference, the iPod classic 5th gen device with 30GB storage was originally sold for $249 when it was first released.

The product pages have since vanished from the Urban Outfitters site and it's unclear why - they may've sold out or maybe they're not for sale anymore.

UNILAD has contacted Urban Outfitters for comment.

However, the pages didn't vanish quick enough for millennials to catch a glimpse and flood to social media.

One X - formerly known as Twitter - user said: "What circle of hell are we in that Urban Outfitters is selling iPod classics now."

"Why is Urban Outfitters selling a 5th generation Apple iPod for $350 in 2023???" another added.

And a third commented: "An Urban Outfitters sponsored post for an iPod in 2023 makes me feel like I'm losing my mind."
