He’s known for being able to throw a punch or two, but Mike Tyson has also proved he’s got a decent aim outside of the ring as well.

In fact, he once managed to hit the bullseye on a dartboard twice… while wearing a blindfold.

Given the mythology that surrounds the controversial boxer – the man literally kept tigers as pets, for goodness sake – you’d be forgiven for thinking that this was just another tale designed to expand the former heavyweight champion’s legend.

But there’s video evidence to prove his achievement, which took place back in 2013 during an appearance on FOX Sports’ Crowd Goes Wild.

Check it out:

During a segment appropriately titled ‘Celebrities Throwing Sharp Objects Blindfolded’, Iron Mike was given the task of throwing three darts at the board while wearing a blindfold.

And while the panel was impressed enough that he managed to land his first dart on the board, what came next blew their minds, with Tyson landing his second shot on the green bull, and his third just a fraction away from the shot before, this time on the red.

Of course, the crowd went wild, as Tyson tried to convince everyone that he really had been completely blind when throwing the darts, readjusting his blindfold a number of times to prove it.

‘I don’t want to say anything, I’m not gonna brag but – thank you,’ Tyson said in uncharacteristically humble fashion, before joking, ‘I’m a Shaolin monk, I told y’all that I’m a Shaolin monk.’

Whether it was a fluke, or whether Tyson has some practice at throwing darts without knowing where they might end up is anyone’s guess, but the achievement has stood the test of time.

His two hits were enough to grab him 55 points, putting him comfortably at the top of the segment’s leaderboard ahead of NFL star Terrell Owens, and no one managed to outdo him before the wacky contest was discontinued a year later in 2014.

As superhuman as the trick shot might seem, perhaps its not that surprising that of all people it was Tyson who was able to pull it off. The legendary fighter rose to the top of his game precisely because of his lightning quick instincts and reflexes, so perhaps all those years of training paid off in unexpected ways too, like being able to spot a bullseye with your eyes closed, for instance.
