Evil genius hides giant shark statue at bottom of lake to terrify divers

An evil genius has hidden a shark statue at the bottom of a lake just to scare divers.

A prankster with a devilish streak has allegedly hidden a giant shark statue at the bottom of a lake with the sole hope of terrifying divers.

Social media users have been in hysterics after a video has begun circulating on Instagram showing the sharp-toothed behemoth in all of its glory.

The clip was posted on Tuesday (October 24) and has so far been liked more than 309,000 times.

The terrifying 'shark' is at the bottom of lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland and some Redditor sleuths concluded that it was likely previously used as a movie prop for Choc au Lac! produced by the association La Jeunesse de la Côte.

The statue is an estimated 20 feet long and made of fiberglass with a devilishly menacing smile.

The statue, first discovered in 2002, has become an attraction for many tourists with the diving equipment to visit the underwater beast.

Many Instagram users were quick to reference the legendary shark, Bruce, from the 1975 film Jaws and commented on the post that showed divers taking pictures with the shark.

“There's no way I’d stay there if I was that guy, if I saw that, I would be using the power of Poseidon to boost me up from the water,” one user commented.

“I can’t tell if I want to shake the hand of whoever made it or run away from them,” another added.

“It’d be funny if one of them were taking [a picture] with it and out of nowhere the eye blinks and the mouth opens up wider and bites down.”an Instagram user joked.

Other users remarked they just wouldn’t be able to contain their fear if they happened to bump into the shark and they would quickly fill their diving suits. Others joked that the shark is so terrifying someone is set to get sued after a diver has a heart attack after an encounter.

The film the shark allegedly starred in was from 1975 and made by a group of 176 kids from the town of Neuchâtel. The film was fittingly about a giant shark that terrorized the town.

The film was unfortunately never finished and the stature has since remained at the bottom of the lake.

Some sceptics have not been convinced by the idea the shark is a film prop however and have suggested it is more likely an elaborate prank.

Whichever the truth, one thing is for sure, best to look out for sharks if you ever find yourself swimming in the lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
