A Colorado dentist has been accused of poisoning his wife via her protein shakes.

On 6 March 2023, Angela Craig began suffering from symptoms of dizziness, 'her head felt funny, her eyes did not want to focus, felt heavy and slow,' she was 'vomiting' and had an 'extreme headache'.

By 15 March, 2023, Angela decided to go to University Hospital, Colorado, accompanied by her brother and later met by her husband, 45-year-old dentist James Toliver Craig.

She was pronounced dead days later.

After reaching the hospital, Angela's condition declined and she experienced a seizure at 2pm, ultimately having to be placed on life support.

Angela was pronounced dead at 4.29pm on 18 March, 2023.

As per an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Daily Beast, another dentist who worked with James at Summerbrook Dental Group is said to have alerted a nurse with their suspicions Angela may have been poisoned after they opened a package delivered to James in the office with a potassium cyanide and biohazard label on it.

Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Homicide Unit subsequently launched an investigation into Angela's death and James was arrested by police in Aurora, Colorado a day later.

A new email account was discovered as having been made on a computer in dental room number nine of where James' worked to buy Crystalline Metalloid Arsenic - as well as other poisons - online.

The new email's search history showed searches for arsenic.

The account's Google search history in the days days prior to Angela going into hospital revealed searches such as 'Six Deadly 'Undetectable' Poisons (and How to Detect Them)'.

As per the affidavit: "James was known to make Angela protein shakes regularly. It was believed he had provided Angela with the poison through these shakes."

A conversation between the new email address and another user has led to accusations of James having an affair.

Part of an email as per the affidavit states: "I do not want to meet your family as a friend and try to conceal what I feel for you [...] I love you."

Other emails included intimate and sexually explicit content, and another revealed the user's intentions to fly to Denver to be with the owner of the new email address.

James allegedly had 'multiple affairs with several women' throughout his marriage to Angela and is even accused of having 'drugged Angela approximately five to six years ago'.

James is accused of having 'commit the crime of 1st degree murder after deliberation'.

The affidavit concludes: "In totality, this investigation has proven that James has gone to great lengths to try and end is wife's life.

"[He] has shown the planning and intent to end his wife's life by searching for ways to kill someone undetected, providing her poisons that align with her hospitalised symptoms and working on starting a new life with [redacted].

"Your affiant finds there is more than enough preliminary evidence sufficient to arrest James Craig with premeditated first-degree murder."

James is reported as currently remaining in custody without bond, having attended his first court appearance on Monday, 20 March.
