Horror fans want Netflix to bring back cancelled 100% Rotten Tomatoes rated show The Order

"We need a season three!"

A beloved TV show that was hit with the Netflix axe has been doing the rounds online, and clearly fans are still cut up about the decision.

A couple of years back, the streaming giant announced its fledgling fantasy horror The Order wouldn't be getting a third season.

The news came as a shock to many, not least because of its perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Created by Dennis Heaton, the supernatural drama centres on college freshman Jack Morton (Jake Manley) who finds himself drawn into a fabled secret society named The Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose.

As he joins the group, Jack is thrust into a world of magic, monsters and intrigue. You can watch the trailer below:

Per the official synopsis: "As Jack goes deeper, he uncovers dark family secrets and an underground battle between werewolves and the magical dark arts.

"The Order is a magical and terrifying journey to uncover our true selves... and the monsters that hide within."

Despite earning a loyal cult following, Netflix decided against renewing the show, leaving viewers hanging and with no resolution to the events of season two.

Although there's no official explanation as to why the show was axed, some have suggested it was down to viewing figures, as this is normally the case.

But this only confused the fans further, as The Order appears to have plenty of people behind it.

Even Heaton himself was left baffled by the decision, with his Twitter bio currently stating: "Cancelling The Order wasn't my decision. Contact Netflix."

Taking to social media to announce the news back in November 2020, he said: "For two seasons I was honored to work with an incredible cast and crew on The Order for [Netflix].

"It is one of the best experiences of my career.

"Unfortunately, we aren't returning, but I will always cherish the memories and the props I stole. Thank you all for watching."

It's been well over two years since then, and still viewers are raving about the show.

Earlier today (22 January), one wrote on Twitter: "I knew Netflix was going downhill when they cancelled The Order."

Another said: "Still sad Netflix cancelled The Order, like fantasy drama with a whole ass cult set in college?"

"After Wednesday, @netflix recommended The Order," added a third. "What a bloody brilliant series by @DennisHeaton2! But absolute shame that Netflix cancelled it! We need a season 3!"

Plenty of commenters highlighted the fact that Netflix did us dirty by cancelling the show on a cliffhanger.

With this in mind, one person has now put together a Change.org petition, stating: "The Order was cancelled very recently.

Fans are calling on the streamer for a third season.
Netflix

"Our goal is to have the show renewed for at least a third season, we deserve a proper ending. Please sign and help us to save another show sacrificed by Netflix."

The campaign has received more than 11,500 signatures at the time of writing, with the OP hoping to reach 15,000.

Whether or not it will make a difference is yet to be seen, although don't hold your breath – unfortunately plenty of other beloved supernatural shows have suffered the same fate over the years.
