A DoorDash customer has spoken out after their delivery driver held their food hostage.

While some people have resolved to not tip servers at all, and others have spoken out about specific percentages, one delivery driver decided to not really give the customer much of an option. Prepare to descend into fits of giggles.

Reddit user u/spark687 took to thread r/doordash to share their experience of ordering food late in the day, noting they placed an order from a place 'five miles away'.

They explained in order to 'make up for the drive' they 'made sure to tip $12'. However, after an hour went by, they realised their 'dasher' was 'waiting in a spot'.

'A bit confused', they then opened the chat and realised the delivery driver had left them several messages.

The messages read: "Ryan I hope that u tipping good cuz I came all the way from [redacted] to you."

A follow-up message reads: "How much that you tipping me before I go farther?"

The customer eventually replies stating they'll tip $12, but the driver responds: "You should pay me $20 don't be cheap."

The Redditor explains he 'reported' the driver and 'canceled the order,' noting they're a dasher themselves so knew the delivery driver 'had the option to decline'.

The user resolved: "Isn't $12 good for a tip? Why's he asking for more?"

And it didn't take long for people to flood to the comments to weigh in on the incident.

One user warmseizuresalad said: "Ew. Change that tip to 0 and then report this f**king pan handler. This aint it."

"First off $12 is a damn fine tip in the first place. Bugging you and like holding your order hostage is Fing ridiculous," u/ballsack1mcgee added.

And u/festivepegasus2000 said: "His loss for just sitting there lol. Missing out on other orders."

And the post has since caught the attention of TikToker 'The humble one' - who goes by @yungblackandgifted - who has responded to several DoorDash dilemmas. Content warning: Explicit language:

And TikTokers weighed in on the matter in similar fashion.

One user said: "Man $12 was even pushing it," while another added: "I live in Philly and they make you tip when you put the order in."

A third commented: "Bro I get no tip a lot im grateful when people do let alone a $12."

And a final resolved: "I had one call me about the tip."

A spokesperson for DoorDash told UNILAD: "This behavior is completely unacceptable and no member of the DoorDash community should be subjected to this type of harassment. The Dasher has been deactivated, and we are reaching out to the consumer directly to make things right."
