The first trailer for Harlan Coben's new crime thriller is here and it's everything we've been waiting for.

When the nights get cold and all you want to do is curl up inside in a blanket, there's nothing you need more than a gripping series to go with it.

Writer Coben has well and truly established himself as the king of these kind of series, having previously brought us titles like Safe and The Stranger, and it looks like he's gone and done it again.

Set to arrive on Netflix on 1 January, Coben's new series stars The Hobbit's Richard Armitage and Our Girl actor Michelle Keegan, as well as Adeel Akhtar, Dino Fetscher and Marcus Garvey.

Titled Fool Me Once, the trailer for the new series introduces us to the happy couple before the husband Joe (Armitage) meets his tragic end.

We see them celebrating their wedding day and declaring their love for one another before a gun is fired by an unknown assailant.

After Maya mourns her husband at his funeral, she's left feeling unnerved and disturbed when she spots an image of him on her toddler's nanny cam.

Michelle Keegan takes on the role of the widow in the series.

A synopsis continues: "Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce (Adeel Akhtar) leads the homicide investigation into Joe's death while grappling with secrets of his own.

"Meanwhile, Maya's niece and nephew, Abby and Daniel, are trying to find the truth about their mother's murder, several months earlier. Are the two cases connected?

Another added: "Oh this is going to be a good one!!!"

In keeping with previous adaptations of Coben's books, Fool Me Once is set to bring the story from the US to the UK, with filming taking place in the North West of England.
