Last week, the Democrats took control of both the House and Senate in a landslide midterm victory - but what does this mean for Trump?
Despite the Republican loss, Trump still remains president, as made very clear by the White House X account. However, the Democrats' newfound control of Congress could see them launch a series of investigations related to Trump, and a potential impeachment attempt.
Trump is far from afraid of the possibility, as he told Sky News: “I think it would destroy the Democrat Party if they did that. It would be impeachment for no reason. For what? For having a successful country?”
But how likely is the president to face another impeachment attempt? AI thinks it could be quite likely.

"Trump could face another impeachment attempt in 2027, but it's far from certain," AI said.

What happens during an impeachment attempt?
Even if the Democrats do seek to launch investigations, there are a number of steps that must be followed.
- January 2027: The new Congress takes office. Democrats can launch investigations and issue subpoenas. However, it is not certain, or confirmed whether they would do this.
- During 2027: If investigations uncover evidence of serious misconduct, Democrats could pursue impeachment.
- House vote: A simple majority is enough to impeach Trump.
- Senate trial: A two-thirds majority is needed to convict and remove him from office.
But what does AI think? Well, it thinks another impeachment 'is plausible, particularly if congressional investigations uncover damaging evidence.'
"The big question now is whether Democrats will actually pursue impeachment or concentrate on investigations and accountability instead," AI states. However, it predicts an impeachment date attempt of June 15, 2027.
It is important to note that this is just a prediction and is not a confirmed date by any means.
As we know, impeachment does not mean removal from office, as the president has already been impeached twice. Once in 2019 and once in 2022. However, they were both acquitted by the Senate.

Hakeem Jeffries, the House Democratic leader said during a November 4 press conference: "I haven't had a single member of the House Democratic caucus talk to me about impeachment."
He suggested that impeachment was not currently a priority for Democrats, saying the party had instead been focused on affordability and holding the Trump administration accountable.
Donald Trump is currently the only president in history to have been impeached twice. Of course, neither of these resulted in a Senate conviction.
Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton are the only other US presidents who have faced impeachment. However, no president has ever been successfully convicted and removed from office by the Senate.
