Last night's Golden Globes ceremony was packed with memorable moments that have sparked equal parts controversy and fascination among the viewers.
But one of the award show's major points of drama appears to have taken place before it had even started.
The 2026 Golden Globes were opened by host Nikki Glaser, who gave a typically funny but controversial speech, which included a joke about the A-listers in attendance and the Epstein files.
She said: "And by A-listers, I do mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted."

Next, fans were gobsmacked to see Sean Penn appearing to smoke a cigarette next to Leonardo DiCaprio, while they were seated at the televised indoor event. And then, Snoop Dogg turned up to hand out a prize, but had to apologize for being 'high as a motherf***er'.
But it was on the red carpet beforehand that fans witnessed one of the most dramatic moments of the night, when Orlando Bloom appeared to take a massive swipe at his ex-fiancée, Katy Perry.

The 48-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star, who split up with Perry in June 2025, spoke about how he struggles to 'trust' women after the break-up while speaking about their five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
When asked on the red carpet on Sunday (11 Jan) about his daughter's Christmas list, which included a 'boyfriend and a cat', Bloom's reply had a fairly obvious dig at Perry: "That's kind of nuts, right? But I was the boyfriend so that's the good news hallelujah!"
And in a less veiled swipe, he added: "She's gonna marry me, finally a woman I can trust!"
This is one of the most direct comments Bloom has made about the divorce, which saw Perry going out on dates with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau barely a month after they publicly announced the split.
In November, Perry and Trudeau officially confirmed that they were dating. Meanwhile, Bloom's love life has been far less out in the open, though last week he was spotted partying in Las Vegas with Colombian actress Sofia Vergara.

Back on the red carpet, Bloom took a moment to justify his indirect dig at his ex, adding: "By the way that is Chris Rock's joke, not mine! Chris Rock was like, 'you had a daughter? Amazing finally a woman you can trust'."
Of daughter Daisy, he added that she 'is the best, the sweetest, she is so happy, I am lucky to have her.'
Perry and Bloom became engaged in 2019 after a few years of on-and-off dating, eventually welcoming their daughter in August 2020. But five years later, the pair decided to divorce as a result of career pressures and growing apart.
At the time, a source told PEOPLE that 'for the sake of their daughter, they're committed to keeping things amicable', but in recent months, both of them have made some subtle digs about their relationship and each other.
The 'I Kissed a Girl' singer made her most direct reference to their split in November when she dropped the track 'Bandaids', which included the line 'It's not that complicated/To ask me how my day is.'
