The Hollywood awards season continued on Sunday night with the 83rd star-studded Golden Globes, but one moment during the event had viewers at home puzzled after Snoop Dogg was suddenly censored.
In the end, it was not host Nikki Glaser's shocking jokes about the Epstein list that caused CBS to cut the broadcast's audio, but 54-year-old Snoop Dogg's loose presentation style for the first-ever Best Podcast award.
Halfway through the ceremony, the legendary Long Beach rapper strolled on the Hollywood stage to his 2004 hit Drop It Like It's Hot, dripped out in an all-black suit with dark shades.
But as anyone who knows anything about Snoop could guess, those sunglasses were as much to hide just how stoned he is as they were a fashion accessory. And he wanted others to join his vibe, telling the gathered A-listers, 'I need y'all to loosen up a little bit.'

In his familiar speech pattern, the G-Funk artist added: "This is the double-G's, the double-G's, it's the Golden Globes, and you're with the D-O-double-G. So, make sure you enjoy yourself, don't be no stiff biff!"
Appearing a little looser on stage than some of the other hosts, the singer began to introduce the brand new category for podcasting, which has seen a Hollywood boom in recent years, with lots of actors and stars becoming podcast hosts.
Snoop said: "Best Podcast is a very important category for me, because, before podcasts, I was what y'all would listen to driving around in your cars. To you podcasters, you better hope I don't get in that game."

He continued: "Shout-out to the Golden Globes for putting the podcast category in this awards show. And shout-out to all of the podcasters. You all are winners, but the real winner is..."
But then, CBS censors had to cut the feed.
Entertainment Weekly, which was in the room at the time, revealed what was said during the segment.

Trying to read the name of the winner on the card, Snoop started to say 'but the real winner'. But he laughed and admitted to the crowd, 'I am high as a motherf***er right now.'
He added, 'Y'all had me here too long.'
Many viewers lost it after finding out what was cut, with one person saying: "That’s like censoring Bob Ross for painting happy little trees."
Most expressed their love for one of the world's most famous stoners, with one saying 'you gotta love Snoop' and another adding 'man’s just speaking the truth, no filter needed.'

Another said of the censored line: "That’s the most Snoop Dogg quote I’ve ever read lmao."
The winner of the gong was 'Good Hang with Amy Poehler', a podcast by the legendary comedian that draws huge names from across Hollywood and the wider world.
Tongue-in-cheek, Poehler said dryly: "This is exactly how I pictured it: Snoop giving me the award. Wow. I don't know about award shows, but when they get it right it makes sense."
Biggest moments of the 2026 Golden Globes
Nikki Glaser’s savage monologue and Epstein joke
It was the comedian’s second time hosting the awards show and, once again, she did not hold back.

Glaser was quick to reference the Epstein files, telling the crowd: "I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight, it's insane. There are so many A-listers... and by 'A-listers’, I do mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted.
"And the Golden Globe for the best editing goes to the Justice Department."
She also found time to poke fun at Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life, roast Timothée Chalamet's physique, ask George Clooney to fix her Nespresso machine and call CBS 'America's newest place to 'see BS' News'.
Same time next year, Glaser?
Owen Cooper makes Golden Globes history

The 16-year-old became the youngest person to win the award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series for his role in Adolescence.
The Netflix show swept up with three more awards - Best Actor in a Limited Series for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Actress for Erin Doherty and Best Limited/Anthology Series or TV movie.
Wanda Sykes throws shade at Ricky Gervais
Ahead of presenting the award for Best Stand-up Comedy Performance, Wanda Sykes said: "Ricky Gervais, I love you for not being here. No, I love you, Ricky, because if you win, I get to accept the award on your behalf, and you're going to thank God and the trans community. Ooh, Ricky!"

However, with Gervais winning for Mortality and not being in attendance, Sykes used the opportunity to call out the comedian and accept the award on his behalf.
Asking if she could 'borrow' Teyana Taylor's speech, she said: “Because he would like to thank God and the trans community.”
Rob Reiner tribute

Glaser closed the show with a subtle tribute to late Hollywood legend Rob Reiner.
The 78-year-old filmmaker and his 70-year-old wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead at their Los Angeles home in December. Their son, Nick, has been charged in connection with their deaths.
The host appeared on stage wearing a 'Spinal Tap' cap, referencing Reiner’s 1984 movie This Is Spinal Tap.
"This one went to 11. Thank you guys for an amazing night, and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all," Glaser poignantly said.
