Fans left baffled by the bizarre way Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have ‘hard launched’ their relationship

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are seemingly going from strength to strength when it comes to their new romance.

The famous couple set the internet ablaze earlier this year amid reports they were dating one another after the breakdown of their respective relationships.

Reps confirmed that Perry had split from fiancé Orlando Bloom in July, saying in a statement at the time: "Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.

"They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect."

Meanwhile, former Canadian prime minister Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire split in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

Trudeau and Perry are believed to have started dating a few months ago. Pictures of the pair sharing a kiss on a boat surfaced in September, seemingly confirming their new relationship.

Now the celeb couple have gone social media official after Trudeau shared a snap of Perry on X. The 'Firework' hitmaker joined her new beau on a trip to see Japanese politician Fumio Kishida.

Trudeau penned alongside a snap of him with Perry, Kishida and his wife: "Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone."

Replying to the post, Kishida said: "Thank you, Justin. Happy holidays to you and Katy!"

People have since reacted to Trudeau and Perry's undeniably 'hard launch' online. Somebody said: "Not Katy joining on official business. Oh, they are serious serious!"

"This might be the craziest hard launch in the history of the free world," wrote a second.

A different person penned: "Katy Perry doing international diplomacy. did not have this on my top risks 2025 list!"

"No way this guy is out here doing business trips with Katy Perry," echoed another. Several others simply commented 'hard launch' on the post.

"This looks like the world’s most polite crossover episode," somebody else quipped.

While the pair seem to be getting very cosy, it looks like Perry didn't spend Thanksgiving with her new boyfriend. Instead, she spent the day with friends at Shanghai Disney Resort.
