Cher says it's 'never too late' for love as she celebrates first anniversary with boyfriend

The singer reveals she went against her own advice dating a man 40 years younger than her.

Cher has proclaimed ‘it’s never too late for love’ as she celebrates her first anniversary with boyfriend, Alexander Edwards.

The singer appears to be head over heels for her 37-year-old lover.

The icon recently sat down with PEOPLE after going public with the music producer last year.

The pair met at Paris Fashion Week through a mutual friend, and Edwards wasted no time exchanging phone numbers with the singer.

“It was really shocking, because people just don’t give out my number,” said the 77-year-old singing legend.

“I had been telling all my friends, ‘We’re too old to go out with really younger men, and I will never fall in love on text.’ So I did what I said not to do!”

But the singer is ultimately happy breaking the rules, as she knows Edwards is ‘special’, adding it’s ‘never too late’ to fall in love.

“I hate when people say people are special, but lots of people say I’m special, so I can say that he’s special," she said.

"No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed'.

"But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”

The couple first sparked headlines after the ‘Believe’ singer began teasing fans with a tweet that said 'one part of my life is SO AMAZING', along with a heart emoji.

Way to give the people breadcrumbs.

Just a couple of days after, the 77-year-old was papped holding hands with Edwards, which of course, sent fans into a frenzy.

On November 4, the singer replied to a tweet that read' ‘Someone’s got a new boyfriendddd' with ‘YESSSSS'.

However, the internet went into overdrive when the musician posted a photo of Edwards with a heart emoji and the caption: “Alexander.”

Shortly after going public, the singer defended their 40-year age gap after a fan expressed that Cher should be concerned with her new beau's ‘intentions’.

She wrote: "As we All Know …I WASNT BORN YESTERDAY,& What I Know For Sure…There Are No Guarantees. Anytime you make a Choice You Take a Chance. I've Always Taken Chances… It's WHO I Am."

She also wrote to another follower: "LOVE DOESNT KNOW MATH, IT SEES."
