Cher defends the 40-year age gap with her new boyfriend

Cher doesn't care what you think about the 40-year age gap between her and her new boyfriend Alexander 'AE' Edwards.

Being the iconic Queen that she is, the 76-year-old hit out at fans on social media who questioned Edwards' intentions with her.

"I’ve Always Taken Chances… It’s WHO I Am," she said in a tweet, before adding: "Love doesn’t know math, it sees."

"Haven’t You Got Anything Else 2 Do? Let Me Explain…I DON'T GIVE A FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS."

The intergenerational pop icon went on to tell her four million Twitter followers that 'anytime you make a choice you take a chance'.

The 'If I Could Turn Back Time' singer revealed her new music producer beau, who is 36, treats her ‘like a queen' and explained the pair met at Paris Fashion Week.

Cher came clean about her blossoming new romance after dropping hints online last week that read: "One part of my life is SO AMAZING."

Despite Cher's insistence that she is happy, strong, and knows what she is doing, some fans still expressed concern.

One Twitter user questioned Edwards’ intentions with the Best Actress Oscar winner. "I'm not sure how I feel about this," the fan said.

"I've been a fan for so long that I'm immediately suspicious of his intentions towards you. WE know you are fabulous and I'm sure your inner circle will continue to have your back. Want you to be happy, but not taken advantage of!!!"

Cher, being the massive Twitter fan that she is, fired back a no-holds-barred response.

"As we All Know …I WASN'T BORN YESTERDAY,& What I Know For Sure…There Are No Guarantees," she said.

But in the words of Taylor Swift: "Haters gonna hate."

Cher is refusing to let her naysayers get her down.

"I’m Not Defending Us. Haters are Gonna Hate," she said.

Cher added: "Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone."

And it seems like she is pretty serious about Edwards, with the pop icon revealing that he has already met her family.

There were plenty of fans that congratulated the pop icon on finding love at 76.

One user said: "Age is just a number! If he treats you right, makes you feel good and brings you happiness then enjoy the ride! You only live once so live like there's no tomorrow and love deep while you can."

Another added: "Congrats on finding LOVE."

A third said: "Live your life as you wish. Only you can decide on it. Enjoy this magical moment!"

One thing is for certain: Cher has some fans that are pretty invested in her life.

But, as she has pointed out in the past, she is a 'rich man'. She's strong, ballsy as hell, and in love.

Despite the 40-year age gap between the musical pair, Edwards was pretty established in the industry before dating Cher.

He is the vice president of A&R at the famous record label which boasts a roster of musicians including Rihanna, Pusha T, Nas, Public Enemy and Justin Bieber.

He was in a relationship with model and Slut Walk activist Amber Rose, with whom he shares three-year-old son Slash Electric Alexander Edwards. The former couple split in 2021 after they were first linked in 2018.

Cher was married to Sonny Bono - with whom she performed with under the name ‘Sonny & Cher’ - between 1964 and 1975.
