Maude Apatow has paid tribute to her former Euphoria star Angus Cloud, who died this week at the age of just 25.

Cloud’s family confirmed that he had passed away following the recent death of his father - who was his ‘best friend’ - but have not shared details on the cause of his death.

A statement from Oakland Fire Department confirmed that they had been to the property before midday on the day of his death, with a spokesperson saying that they were ‘dispatched to a location associated with the actor at 11:30am’.

Speaking to NBC News, the spokesperson added: “Upon arrival of Fire EMS personnel, the patient was determined to be already deceased.”

Cloud’s family announced his death with the ‘heaviest heart’, saying he had been an ‘incredible human’.

“As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways,” they said, continuing: "Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss.

"The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.

"Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."

In the wake of Cloud’s passing, many of his Euphoria colleagues have paid heartfelt tribute to the star - including Maude Apatow, 25, who played his on-screen love interest Lexi.

Writing on Instagram, Apatow said: "Angus was the funniest person ever. I would get so excited to see on the schedule that we would be working together because I knew we’d have the best day, laughing so hard. He was the sweetest and made everyone around him so happy. He was just the best. Words can’t really capture how magical of a person he was.

"My heart is broken.

"Angus, getting to know and work with you was one of the greatest joys and blessings of my life. I will love you forever."

Cloud’s character, a local drug dealer called Fezco, had a budding romance with Lexi in the second season of the show.

After the programme was renewed for a third series, the actor said he was ‘definitely not sure what to expect’ for his character’s storyline after the cliffhanger ending - which saw Fezco being taken away by police after his adoptive brother Ashtray was killed - he said that ‘knowing [creator] Sam [Levinson], it will be good’.

"I can't wait to get back to work with everyone," Cloud told E! News.

"I feel like it's been way too long. I just can't wait to see everyone and working on set again."

Many other Euphoria cast members have expressed their love for Cloud, with 17-year-old Javon Walton - who had played his adoptive brother Ashtray - posting a photo of the pair on his Instagram Story, saying: “Forever Family.”

Walton also shared a photo on his grid, adding the caption: “Rest easy brother.”

Storm Reid, who plays Zendaya’s on-screen little sister Gia Bennett, posted a scene from Euphoria and said 'the tears just won’t stop'.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson said there was ‘no one quite like’ Cloud, saying: “He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon.

“He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression.”

Levinson added: “I hope he knew how many hearts he touched.

“I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”
