Sydney Sweeney has paid tribute to her Euphoria co-star Angus Cloud, following his tragic death at the age of just 25.

Cloud was best known for his turn on hit HBO series Euphoria, where he played local drug dealer Fezco - who was last seen being taken away by police after his adoptive brother Ashtray (Javon Walton).

The actor had previously spoken about his excitement for season three, which was announced last February, saying that while he didn’t know what creator Sam Levinson had in store for Fezco, he was looking forward to getting back on set.

However, the family of Cloud confirmed yesterday (31 July) that he had sadly passed away, saying in a statement that he would be reunited with his late father, who also died recently.

They said: “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today.

“As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”

The family - who did not share details on the cause of Cloud’s death - added: "Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss.

"The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.

"Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."

After news of his death broke, tributes have come pouring in for the late Euphoria star, including from his co-stars on the hit HBO show.

Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie, shared a poignant post about her former colleague.

She wrote: "Angus you were an open soul, with the kindest heart, and you filled every room with laughter.

"This is the hardest thing ive ever had to post, and im struggling to find all the words.

"You will be missed more than you know, but I'm so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I'm sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same.

"This heartache is real and I wish we could've had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you."

Many other Euphoria cast members have expressed their love for Cloud, with 17-year-old Javon Walton - who had played his adoptive brother Ashtray - posting an Instagram Story photo of the pair, saying: “Forever Family.”

Walton also shared a photo on his grid, adding the caption: “Rest easy brother.”

Storm Reid, who plays Zendaya’s on-screen little sister Gia Bennett, posted a scene from Euphoria and said 'the tears just won’t stop'.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson said there was ‘no one quite like’ Cloud, saying: “He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon.

“He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression.”

Levinson added: “I hope he knew how many hearts he touched.

“I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”
