First trailer for GTA VI has just dropped

Grand Theft Auto VI has been officially revealed, with the trailer for the hugely anticipated game now out.

The day has finally come... Rockstar has finally dropped the GTA VI trailer.

All gamers are well aware at this point how long we have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI.

While there have been plenty of leaks, we've gone years without anything official being revealed about the game - until now

Watch the trailer for the game that will break the internet below:

The trailer was meant to be released on December 5 at 9am EST, however leaked versions made their way onto social media the night before.

It didn't matter how many versions were shut down, more kept popping up.

Rockstar eventually decided to upload the official version on YouTube and bring Christmas early for many fans all around the world.

Rockstar Games - the developer of the famed franchise - released Grand Theft Auto V in September 2013, with the tenth anniversary of the game coming earlier this year.

Since then, Rockstar has released Red Dead Redemption 2 to much critical acclaim, while also releasing remasters of some of their much-loved titles.

The trailer for GTA 6 has finally been released.

THE REASON GTA 6 TRAILER RELEASED ONE DAY EARLY

The buildup to the first trailer for GTA VI has certainly not been the easiest one for Rockstar Games, with many hours of gameplay footage leaking last year.

Following the massive leak, Rockstar explained that they'd been hit with a leak after a 'network intrusion', saying someone 'illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information', including footage from the development of the upcoming game.

They said: "We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way.

"Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.

"We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support in this situation."

Rockstar confirmed last month that a trailer for GTA VI would be coming in December, simultaneously breaking the internet in the process.

In a statement released on X, formerly Twitter, Rockstar's president Sam Houser said: "Next month marks the 25th anniversary of Rockstar Games. Thanks to the incredible support of our players worldwide, we have had the opportunity to create games we are truly passionate about.

"Without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us.

"In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.

"We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you."

And last week, Rockstar hinted the game would take place in Vice City a fictionalized depiction of Miami - something that has now been confirmed with the reveal trailer.
