The man who won over $2 billion on the U.S. lottery has splashed the cash on a number of homes since his incredible win.

Edwin Castro, 31, from California, who won the historic $2 billion Powerball Jackpot, has been adding to his real estate portfolio since February.

His life completely changed when he purchased the winning ticket from a local gas station in November last year. It wasn’t until February that he came forward to claim his humongous reward. It was the largest-ever lottery jackpot and Castro opted for a lump sum of $997.6 million, making him almost a billionaire overnight.

Life has been a bit more glamorous since his historic win, and to say that Castro has splurged is a serious understatement.

The day he claimed his winnings just so happened to be Valentine’s Day and his first purchase was a $25.5 million estate in Hollywood Hills on 1 March. He can now call the likes of Ariana Grande, Dakota Johnson and Jimmy Kimmel his neighbours. The 13,500-square-foot mansion sits on a 0.58-acre lot and has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a game room, a wine cellar, movie theater, bar, spa and fitness studio, according to USA Today.

Castro bought a second mansion in his hometown of Altadena, California, with views of the gorgeous San Gabriel Mountains. The 1953 Japanese-style home includes five bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus a pool and a movie theater, the New York Post reported.

With a massive house, you need a car to match and Castro reportedly bought a vintage white Porsche for $250,000.

This month, Castro added yet another mega-mansion to his collection for $47 million from celebrity real estate agent Mauricio Umansky. Once again, the house has more than enough bedrooms for the ultimate sleepover. The new home has seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a koi pond and a huge infinity pool.

Although it's unclear if Castro plans to delve into the world of EDM, his new home has the perfect amenities for it, with DJ turntables and a champagne room. Plus, it has a glass walkway, a wine cellar, and a home theater.

When he was announced as the winner, Castro said: “As much as I am shocked and ecstatic to have won the Powerball drawing, the real winner is the California public school system.”

In the state of California public schools act as beneficiaries of the state’s lottery. Which means that the education system received over $156 million following Castro’s record breaking.
