TikToker’s ‘unethical’ plane 'life hack' to punish passengers reclining seats divides opinions

Reclining seats on a plane is certainly a divisive topic

Plane etiquette is certainly a divisive topic on the internet, causing a bunch disagreements on social media forums.

While the debate certainly heats up in the summer as many jet off for their holidays, it certainly doesn't go away into the winter months.

People do still get on planes in winter after all!

One of the biggest debates when it comes to plane etiquette is reclining seats, and what camp you sit in when it comes to this pretty divisive matter.

If you are one of those who cant stand when people take it upon themselves to recline their seat on an aircraft, then you might be interested in this viral 'unethical' hack to keep the plane recliners at bay:

The TikTok hack has gained a lot of attention after dividing opinions right down the middle.

While some people can't thank creator @theLKshow enough for sharing the passive aggressive trick, others are passionately speaking out in defense of reclined seats.

The six-second video simply reads: "When you are on a flight and the person in front of you reclines their seat all the way and leaves you no room. Turn on the air con above you on full blast and point it at the top of their head."

In the caption, the TikToker added: "The plane ride is so long when you get one of these people in front of you #plane #reclinetheseat #annoyingpassengers."

Are pro or anti recline?

If you're someone who can't stand a reclined plane seat, this hack is admittedly pretty genius - especially if you're not one for causing a scene.

Not everyone was pleased with the advice, though, and it wasn't long before the age old debate was reignited.

"Unethical? I think this is completely reasonable," one impressed viewer commented.

A second, who just caught the viral video too late, wrote: "Wish I had done this. The guy just told me that the seats move that far back for a reason. I was squashed the whole flight."

And a third, who is clearly very anti-recline, added: "I have the right to play a two hour drum solo on my tray table after you recline."

Hitting back, a pro-recline viewer argued: "Seats are meant to recline. Recline your seat or upgrade to an area with more leg room."

Another agreed: "I stay awake the entire flight and it doesn't bother me if the person in front of me reclines. Flights are expensive. Recline if you want to."

It's the age-old debate: to recline or not to recline?

And a third challenged: "I'll take the extra AC with my seat laid back."

Several people, clearly in support of a reclined plane seat, pleaded with viewers to consider their solution - that everyone reclines their seat together.

"The seats are so uncomfortable... everyone should collectively recline!" declared one.

Similarly, another wrote: "Ok but hear me out - EVERYONE should recline, that way everybody is comfy and nobody has less room."

No matter what side of the argument you land on, you must admit that does sound like the least problematic solution.

But the chances of us all landing on a mutual decision is pretty slim, so until then: expect air con in your face, recliners.
