Donald Trump has revealed his thoughts before his upcoming meeting with Vladimir Putin, as the two leaders are set to host talks in Alaska today.

The POTUS’ long-awaited meeting with Putin will take place at a summit today (August 15) after having threatened Russia with additional sanctions and further tariffs if a peace deal was not struck with Ukraine.

Due to take place in Anchorage, both leaders will arrive with their delegations for the conference, with footage showing Air Force One waiting at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Baltimore, for the POTUS’ departure.

Russia’s veteran foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is already there, claiming that Russia ‘never plans ahead’ prior to the conference, as per the Independent.

Trump previously wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social: "The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska.

"Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Meanwhile, Putin considers the talks to be a way to 'create long-term conditions for peace between our countries, as well as in Europe, and in the world as a whole’.

Now, Trump has once again taken to Truth Social, issuing a two-word message ahead of the meeting.

"HIGH STAKES," he wrote on the platform.

In response, his supporters told him that he’s the only man capable of restoring peace to the region, and even though it is high stakes, he’s the man for the job.

One writer stated: “Wishing President Trump the best of luck in today’s high stakes meeting with President Putin may it lead to peace, strength, and a safer world. MAGA.”

Another wrote: “The stakes have never been higher.”

Trump earlier claimed Putin was ‘not going to mess around with me’.

He also took aim at the media’s depiction of the meeting, stating: “Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin.

"Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, ‘Putin has already won.’ What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING.”

Within the post, the POTUS made a blunder, referring to Saint Petersburg as Leningrad, stating: “The Fake News is working overtime (No tax on overtime!). If I got Moscow and Leningrad free, as part of the deal with Russia, the Fake News would say that I made a bad deal! But now they’ve been caught. Look at all of the real news that’s coming out about their CORRUPTION.

"They are sick and dishonest people, who probably hate our Country. But it doesn’t matter because we are winning on everything!!! MAGA.”
