When the head honchos at Marvel approached Tobey Maguire to ask him if he'd be up for reprising his role of Spider-Man in their film No Way Home, his answer was: "Finally!"

The actor, who played Peter Parker from 2002 to 2007, joined Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland for the cross-over of the century in 2021.

Maguire was the first person to play Spider-Man in a live action film, and had always planned on returning to the role after the infamous Spider-Man 3.

Due to creative differences out of his control, Maguire never did get to come back for a fourth film - that was, until 15 years later when he got the call from Marvel.

Once he got back into the suit, it was like he had never left, and now Maguire wants to make it clear that he'd be more than happy to come back for a fifth time. Hint, hint, Marvel.

Speaking in the upcoming book about the making of the mind-blowing superhero film, Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special, Maguire explained what it was like to come back.

"When they called initially, I was like 'finally!'" he said.

"I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this. Not without nerves - you know, ‘What will this look like and what will the experience be?’ But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, 'Yes!' It’s fun and exciting."

He added that, if anyone wants him in any future Spider-Man projects, all they have to do is pick up the phone. Looking at you, Kevin Feige.

"I love these films and I love all of the different series," Maguire gushed.

"If these guys called me and said, 'Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?’ it would be a ‘yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?"

The upcoming book Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special will delve into the making of the hit Marvel movie that went on to gross $1.916 billion in the box office.

It'll include exclusive interviews with Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Willem Dafoe, and more.

On getting back into the Spider-Man suit for the first time in 15 years, Maguire commented: "The suit can definitely be a challenge at times when you’ve got to get into the full thing.

"But then, once you’re comfortable, there is something fun about it. As an actor, it helps when you get in your costume.

"You begin to feel it more and embody it more… You start to feel pretty at home pretty swiftly."

Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special will be released on 28 February.
