Spider-Man 4 'to be released by 2024'

The next instalment of the web slinger's story could be coming pretty soon

The next instalment in Tom Holland's Spider-Man movie series could be coming to cinemas by the middle of 2024 according to recent leaks.

TechRadar reports that a number of 'reliable Marvel movie leakers' (which wouldn't be a bad description of Tom Holland) are hearing that the fourth MCU version of Spider-Man will enter production next year with a view to a 'mid-2024' release.

They reckon a fourth Spider-Man movie could end up hitting cinemas at some time between April and June 2024, and might be the film which caps off the current 'phase five' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It wasn't too long ago we were worrying that Tom Holland might have to hang up the mask and web-shooters of Spider-Man due to some weird, complicated politics between Disney and Sony.

Luckily, all of that business seems to have been sorted out which clears the way for more MCU adventures with the iconic webslinger.

The leaks also suggest Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home is wanted for a fourth stint in the chair.

However, the director may be thinking it's time to move on from superhero movies after departing the MCU's Fantastic Four project following a bit of burnout from the genre.

They'd have to think of another way to fit 'home' in the titles, unless they want to semi-reboot the tone of the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, which would certainly be possible considering the way No Way Home wrapped things up.

At the end of that movie the world had forgotten that Peter Parker was Spider-Man, and indeed pretty much forgotten about Peter Parker entirely, sadly including his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and girlfriend MJ (Zendaya).

Peter had gone from a high-flying student who pals around with The Avengers and had his secret identity widely known after J Jonah James (JK Simmons) announced it to the world, to a guy living in New York trying to make ends meet.

It was a bit of a return to Spider-Man's roots and set up a potential future series of adventures for Holland's webslinger away from the high school drama much of his early movies were mired in.

A prospective MCU follow up wouldn't be the only Spider Man 4 people are wondering about, as Sam Raimi has said he'd be 'completely open' to bringing back Tobey Maguire's Spidey for a fourth film.

Raimi directed Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness and Maguire's Peter Parker showed up to help save the day in No Way Home, so it's not impossible that something could happen.

It would be absolutely great though.
