The Simpsons predicted Donald Trump would run for US President in 2024 nearly a decade ago

A producer from The Simpsons has claimed the long-running animated sitcom predicted Donald Trump would run for President in 2024.

It’s no secret that The Simpsons has predicted some of the most significant global events in recent years, including a 1995 episode that (somehow) predicted the rise of smart watches.

Other predictions have included the likes of Lady Gaga performing at the Super Bowl, Ted Cruz going on holiday during a crisis, faulty voter machines, and the Higgs-Boson Particle.

And incredibly, it looks like they’re on the money once again.

Long-running producer Al Jean took to Twitter to post a photo of a 2015 episode where Homer Simpson is seen flying with a presidential campaign sign that reads ‘Trump 2024’.

Jean’s tweet comes after the former US President announced his bid to reclaim the White House.

While speaking to his loyal and faithful supporters, the former leader said: "We've always known this was not the end, it was only the beginning to rescue the American dream.

"In order to make America great and glorious again I am tonight announcing my candidacy for President of the United States."

According to ABC News, the 76-year-old said that the country is in a ‘state of decline’ and that he can lead the nation back to glory.

“This is a party that has become much bigger, much stronger, much more powerful [and] can do much more good for our country,” he said, as per the outlet.

There's no doubt it will be a hectic race to determine who will represent the Republican party for the 2024 election, and probably an even bigger battle when that candidate goes up against the Democrat.

While the 2024 prediction from The Simpsons is undoubtedly freaky, the show also famously portrayed Trump as President in a 2000 episode titled ‘Bart to the Future’.

In the episode, Bart flashes forward to his future, where he’s living as an aspiring rockstar, and Lisa is the leader of the free world, taking over from Trump’s reign.

It seems The Simpsons have been well aware of Donald Trump re-running for president in 2024 for quite some time.

The episode attracted new-found attention after the former leader first announced his candidacy for president in 2015.

One user on Twitter wrote: “This episode was titled 'Bart to the Future' and aired March 2000 (almost 21 yrs ago).

“In this episode, Donald Trump just left office as President and Lisa took over as President.

“Lisa and Kamala wore identical outfit. It's scary.”

Another commented: “Just watching Simpsons episode 'Bart to the Future' (from March 2000) in which Lisa is the new US president, following Trump administration, which produced a huge deficit and an entire generation of super-criminals. Prophetic.”

Bart to the Future attracted worldwide attention for its eerie predictions.

While a third wrote: “This is word-for-word from episode ‘Bart to the future’ (season 11, episode 17 at minute mark 9:56): ‘As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from president Trump’."

Clearly, the writers have made a deal with Notrodamus at this point.
