It's fair to say of all the genres out there, horror is one of - if not the most - difficult to pull off.

Whether it's a feature-length movie that doesn't quite hit the mark, or a mini-series whose jump scares have you bored out your brains, not all horrors are made equal.

But Amazon Prime Video subscribers reckon they've found one of 'the best' series in the form of a 'terrifying' two-season show some say is better than American Horror Story.

And its hype is backed up by some stellar ratings, with the show's second season having been awarded a perfect 100 percent score by Rotten Tomatoes critics.

The anthology series first debuted on the Jeff Bezos-owned platform in 2021, with its top-rated second season - which had viewers 'on the edge' - dropping last year.

So, if you're on the hunt for your next binge-watch, then look no further.

The series in question is called Them and begins with Them: Covenant, which, set in 1950s America, centers on a Black family who move from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during 'The Great Migration.'

But their idyllic new home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces threaten to 'taunt, ravage and destroy them,' the synopsis reads.

You can watch the trailer for Them's first season below:

Them: The Scare follows with a whole new story, this time jumping to 1991 where LAPD Detective Dawn Reeve (Deborah Ayorinde) takes on a gruesome murder case that even the most hardened of detectives are struggling to handle.

"As Dawn draws closer to the truth, something malevolent grips her and her family," the series' synopsis teases.

While overall Them boasts a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 79 percent, its The Scare that's cinched a perfect 100 from critics.

Ayorinde and co-star Luke James' were praised for their execution of the show's 'layered' characters, while fans were left 'mind blown' by its shock twists and turns.

One person's verdict read: "Them had excellent acting and an intriguingly scary plot that had me on edge. Glad I watched it with someone.

"Reminds me a little of Get Out and American Horror Story."

A second wrote "Take note, American Horror Story, this is how a horror anthology should look.

"Genuinely unnerving and frightening with a captivating plot, this was easily one of the best things I've watched this decade."

Both seasons of Them - Covenant and The Scare - are available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
