‘Shocking’ new Netflix series Griselda praised by viewers hits Rotten Tomatoes milestone

Netflix's Griselda has hit a Rotten Tomatoes milestone.

The latest original from the guys over at Netflix has seriously impressed viewers as the series hits an impressive milestone on Rotten Tomatoes.

There's nothing better than bingeing a new show and then heading onto social media to see what everyone else thought.

It's practically mandatory at this point.

And Griselda, which released on Netflix on 25 January, is certainly no exception.

Since its release, Netflix viewers have all been saying the same thing about the new show as many binge watched it within days of its release.

Griselda is told in a six-part miniseries as it follows real-life story of Colombian drug trafficker, Griselda Blanco.

The drug lord ran a cocaine cartel in 1980s Miami to support her family.

However, as is often the case with a drug-related story, Griselda's greed and ruthlessness takes over making for a rather 'shocking' story.

The series stars the likes of Karol G, Vanessa Ferlito, Alberto Guerra, Juliana Aidén Martinez and, of course, Modern Family star, Sofía Vergara.

Sofia Vergara stars in the new Netflix miniseries.

Currently, Griselda is the highest rated film or TV show Vergara has ever appeared in, as it currently sits with an impressive 88 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.

Vergara’s previous best score on the review aggregator site came from Jon Favreau's Chef, which has a rating of 87 percent.

Vergara's most well known show, Modern Family, has an impressive 85 percent rating on the review-aggregation site.

Richard Roeper, from the Chicago Sun-Times, said of Griselda: "Even though the attempt at a makeover is an unfortunate distraction, the former Modern Family star goes full Pacino-in-Scarface mode and delivers a robust, screen-rattling, suitably over-the-top performance."

Fans and critics are loving Griselda.

The Times' Carol Midgley penned: "Griselda sometimes feels like a triumph of style over moral substance. But Vergara commands the screen — and this drama — beautifully."

While indieWire's Proma Kholsa wrote: "Fact or fiction, Vergara’s performance casts a sharp light on how she has been underutilized in her career, and just how long a shadow she can cast with production power and a team that knows and pushes her potential."

Fans have also praised Griselda, with one fan on X penning: "I’m watching Griselda and I’m really blown at the fact that Sofia Vergara has been acting for so long but this is the first time she’s truly getting an opportunity to show us her range."

Speaking on Good Morning America earlier this month, the actor spoke about taking on her first Spanish-language performance with Griselda.

"It’s been a pleasure and a torture at the same time to be part of this project," she said.

Griselda is streaming on Netflix now.
