Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has said he doesn't want Chris Pratt anywhere near the upcoming Netflix adaptation of his games.

The news recently dropped that Netflix was going to make a movie based off the Gears of War video game series, with the streaming service recently making the announcement 16 years on from the release of the first game.

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski was on Twitter recently throwing out ideas for his ideal casting in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of the hugely popular series of games.

While he's not involved with the casting or production of the movie, he did enjoy bringing up a few names which fans might warm to.

He liked the idea of either Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista or The Boys star Karl Urban as Marcus Fenix, while suggesting he'd want 'a Latino actor for Dom'.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds and Scott Porter were his suggestions if the Netflix production were looking for someone to cast as Baird.

However, there's one name he wouldn't want to see anywhere near the Gears of War franchise, and that's Chris Pratt.

Taking to Twitter, he said: "Oh and keep Chris Pratt away from the Gears franchise, please, FFS."

A lot of Gears fans disagreed, but only so they could recommend Pratt for a very specific role in the Netflix movie.

After a bit of back and forth between fans, Bleszinski was able to be convinced that maybe Pratt could have a part to play after all, so long as it was 'every Carmine brother'.

If you've played the Gears games, then you'll know that's basically an invitation for Pratt to be killed on screen multiple times, and Bleszinski said that idea 'might work'.

Meanwhile, Dave Bautista has let it be known that he would really, really like a part in this upcoming movie, and it's something he's been interested in doing for a few years.

The Gears of War developer also joked around as people shared fanart of Pratt as every character.

Pratt has come in for a whole wave of criticism since getting cast in the role of Mario for next year's The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

While Mario has been voiced by Charles Martinet in the games for the past 30 years, the movie role instead went to Pratt.

His voice as Mario was revealed in a trailer for the movie and the reaction from fans has been less 'let's a go' and more 'mamma mia'.

While Mario doesn't say much in his games, his cheerful, springy voice is instantly recognisable to generations who grew up playing Super Mario games.

Meanwhile, Pratt's voice in the trailer for the movie is unmistakably Chris Pratt with a slight 'Italian' accent to it.
