Stranger Things creator reveals exactly when Netflix viewers will finally learn the truth about major plot line in series

After nearly 10 years in the making, the show is coming to a hotly anticipated finale

The creators of Stranger Things have teased about the conclusion to one of the show's major plotlines.

The hit Netflix show has been running for nearly 10 years, and has become one of the most widely-watched productions that the streaming service has put out.

Its combination of horror, sci-fi mystery and 80s nostalgia has led to Stranger Things' immense success, despite fans sometimes bemoaning the long waits between seasons.

Now, viewers are eagerly awaiting the long-anticipated finale to the hit show, with the final season being aired in three parts.

The first of these, Stranger Things 5: Volume 1, was released on 26 November, with the second being set to go out on Christmas Day, and the final episode being released on New Year's Eve.

As things start to heat up for the finale, creators the Duffer Brothers opened up about a key part of the show.

This is, of course, the 'Upside Down', the dark and dangerous realm connected to our own world and inhabited by horrifying monsters, and where numerous characters have disappeared over the course of the story.

Now, the many threads are starting to come together, with Matt Duffer saying that Volume 2 will see this progress even further.

Speaking to Deadline, he said: "Especially as we get into Volume 2, we start to answer more and more why Will was kidnapped and how it ties in with Holly [Wheeler] and all of this."

He added: "Everything sort of comes full circle."

Fellow co-creator Ross Duffer also explained that viewers will start to comprehend exactly where places like the Upside Down come from 'pretty early on' in Volume 2.

He said: "That really is a Volume 2 thing, where we really get into the Upside Down, and we explain what it is.

"Again, this is something that has been planned for 10 years now, and it just now, obviously is the time to reveal it."

It's not the first time that the brothers have made allusions to the conclusion of the hit show, previously saying that 'this isn't Game of Thrones'.

Expectations are sure to be high with the ending of a series as popular as Stranger Things.

Matt told the Hollywood Reporter: “I don’t want anyone to overthink. It’s fun actually when [the fans] have all these theories as to what’s going to happen. It’s fun to read them.

"The vast majority of them are wrong. Occasionally, someone gets something.”
