A new video has shown Colin Farrell’s crazy body transformation into The Penguin.

Farrell is set to return to the role as the crime boss which he initially played in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

The Irish actor put on a fat suit as well as substantial facial prosthetics for the role.

He will be returning to the role for The Penguin, an upcoming spin-off R-Rated gangster show.

Joining Farrell is a star-studded cast, including Cristin Milioti, Mark Strong, Clancy Brown, and Theo Rossi.

The video has been released as an inopportune time for the show’s marketing, following Farrell’s outburst regarding the suit itself.

When asked about a possible season two, Farrell told TotalFilm: “I don’t know, man. Don't get me wrong – I loved it – but it got in on me a little bit.

“By the end of it, I was b****ing and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I f**king wanted it to be finished.”

He went on to say: “I was still grateful, and still honored – I grew up watching Burgess Meredith and then Danny DeVito was my Penguin.

"Being a part of the lineage of that storytelling, I really did feel privileged.”

Regarding finishing filming though, Farrell said: “When I finished I was like, 'I never want to put that f***ing suit and that f***ing head on again.”

The transformation video, whilst impressive, demonstrates why this may be the case.

The video shows Farrell being caked in layer after layer of prosthesis, in addition to the fat suit he is forced to wear.

In the video, released by HBO Max, Farrell is heard describing the process as ‘so intense’, in which he is dealt with by: “Someone was doing the teeth, someone was doing the hair, someone was puncturing the hair, someone doing the skull cap, three [people] applying the makeup, two [people] applying the bodysuit, two [people] from wardrobe.”

One viewer, who is clearly a huge fan of Colin Farrell, said: “It is truly amazing how they turn the most gorgeous man on the planet into that!”

Discussing the transformation on reddit, one fan said: “I hope this perspective reminds people to be grateful towards actors who put up with various make-up / costumes for their art and for our entertainment.

“From wearing a motion capture suit all day to 3AM starts to get painted as an alien, a lot of actors have to put up with such problems, especially in the worlds of comic books and science fiction.”

The Penguin will premiere September 19 on HBO.
