Shakira and her kids leave Barcelona for good as they start new life in Miami

The ‘She Wolf’ singer took to social media to announce that she would start a ‘new chapter’ with her children in Miami.

Shakira took to social media to announce that she would start a ‘new chapter’ with her children, Milan and Sasha.

“I established myself in Barcelona to give my kids stability, the same one we are now looking for in another corner of the world alongside my family, friends and the sea,” she shared.

“Today we start a new chapter in search of their happiness.”

The singer added a heartfelt goodbye to the Spanish city itself.

“Thank you to everyone that surfed with me in the Barcelona waves, the city in which I learned that friendship is longer than love. Thanks to everyone that helped me, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow,” she said.

“Thanks to all my Spanish fans that gave me their loyalty and love. For you guys, it’s only a see you later and like my father said many times, we’ll see you on the curves.”

The ‘She Wolf’ singer has moved her sons out of Barcelona following her split with Gerard Pique.

In June 2022, the couple, who had been together for almost a decade, announced they had split in a joint statement.

"We regret to confirm that we are separating," the statement read.

"For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” they disclosed.

Since then, Pique has officially started a new relationship with 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti, which was made public via Instagram in January.

That following month, Shakira spoke to journalist Enrique Acevedo about the breakup.

She explained how she now feels ‘strengthened’ after the painful split and has given up on the narrative that a woman needs a man.

The 46-year-old revealed that she had previously loved the idea of women being ‘emotionally dependent on men’.

The interview came after the singer released a song titled ‘Out of Your League’, which she sings about her ex-partner and even takes a swipe at his new girlfriend, mentioning her name in a play on words.

"Zero grudge baby, I wish you good luck with my supposed replacement, I don’t even know what happened to you. You’re so weird I can’t even recognize you. I’m worth two of 22 [year old],” she sings.

"You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo.

"You traded a Rolex for a Casio.

"You’re going fast, slow down.

"Lots of time at the gym, but your brain needs a little work too."
