Police were called to Britney Spears' home after she deleted her Instagram account.

Fans became concerned for her welfare after seeing that she had got rid of her social media page this week.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they received worried calls from people who wanted them to check in on the 41-year-old on Tuesday night (24 January).

Speaking to Page Six, a spokesperson for the sheriff's department said that there was no reason to be alarmed over the singer's safety.

"I can confirm that we did get calls into our dispatch, and essentially, I can confirm that we don’t believe that Britney Spears is in any kind of harm or any kind of danger,” they said.

The force didn't reveal how many reports or phone calls they had received over the matter.

And neither did they say whether or not they actually spoke to Britney or whether or not they actually went to her home.

The force said they could not divulge any more information due to privacy and 'public trust'.

The Ventura County spokesperson said: "It’s just a privacy thing for the residents in our county.

"It’s a public trust issue. We just don’t disclose those kinds of things [such as wellness checks]. It’s not a crime.

“We don’t really talk about any kind of mental health issues or anything like that.

"I can’t confirm or deny that deputies went to her house, but we don’t believe that Britney Spears is in any kind of harm or danger at this point."

Britney has previously been seen eating out with her husband at a restaurant in Los Angeles, where some onlookers claimed she was acting strange.

The singer was seen by fans with her husband Sam Asghari at JOEY restaurant in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles on Friday (13 January), where the couple were trying to enjoy an evening out.

Unfortunately for Spears, some fans couldn't resist getting their phones out to film her on the date, with one clip showing the moment she used a menu to hide her face from the onlookers.

Sources told TMZ the singer became 'manic' and began talking 'gibberish', spouting unrecognisable speech.

As the scene unfolded, Asghari is said to have become visibly upset and walked out of the restaurant. Spears soon followed him out with her bodyguard, who then returned to pay the bill.

Britney later took to social media, posting a series of random and explicit posts.
