Tom Cruise fans gobsmacked as he makes surprise appearance at Mission: Impossible screening

The A-Lister visited several cinemas with Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie, as Cruise continued his promotional tour.

Going to the cinema is always exciting, but one group of moviegoers got the surprise of a lifetime at a recent screening.

As they sat down to watch Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One, they found themselves face-to-face with no other than super spy Ethan Hunt (aka Tom Cruise).

The A-List actor snuck into the AMC cinema and even made time to mingle with fans during the film showing.

As if that wasn’t enough, he was joined by Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie – who also greeted fans of the spy franchise.

Posing for photos and chatting with the audience, the pair spoke about the highly anticipated film – which is the 7th instalment of the long-running series.

Cruise’s surprise appearance at AMC cinema in South Miami was part of a huge promotional tour for the film.

“You definitely dream of moments like this,” the A-lister told crowds, adding: “Hope you enjoy the film, ‘cause we made it for you.”

He also visited cinemas in Washington, Atlanta and Toronto as audiences gathered to gather to watch the film.

Having reprised his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt, the Top Gun star has been on an intense world tour with premieres in London, Sydney, Rome and Los Angeles.

Not only that but this has been amidst filming the second part of Dead Reckoning, which saw Cruise perform stunts in a small yellow plane in the skies over South Africa.

It’s pretty incredible considering he’s now 61 years old, with Cruise doing all of his own stunts for both films – including a terrifying bike jump off a cliff in Norway.

In fact, he even completed the incredible stunt on day one of filming for Dead Reckoning: Part One for a surprisingly morbid reason.

Despite being one of the biggest action stars of all time, Cruise was concerned about the stunt going wrong and even joked that it would have caused a ‘major rewrite’ if he’d been hurt or killed.

"Well, we know either we will continue with the film or we’re not. Let’s know day one,” he quipped in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, adding: “Let us know day one what is going to happen: Do we all continue or is it a major rewrite?”

However, the A-lister went on to complete the stunt six times with him hurtling off a cliff in Hellesylt, Norway before parachuting to safety.

Whilst we wouldn’t be brave enough to risk life and limb for a film, the Jerry Maguire actor then went on to do a car chase sequence through the tiny street of Venice with co-star Hayley Atwell.

We can wait to watch all his hard work on the big screen.
