Grand Theft Auto fans are flooding to social media in praise of GTA VI after seeing how far the graphics have come since Vice City.

The first trailer for the new Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game was released early by Rockstar Games after versions were leaked online.

And gamers are now racing to X - formerly known as Twitter - quick to point out just how far the technology has come since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - widely considered the best GTA - was released in 2002.

The trailer for GTA VI was leaked yesterday (4 December), multiple version popping up all over social media.

Why didn't Rockstar Games just report them and get them taken down? I hear you say. Well, we all know that doesn't quite work with how quickly things spread on the internet.

So, Rockstar simply turned around and released the trailer early, stating on X: "Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube."

Compared to some of the leaks, the gaming developer uploaded the trailer in all its glory in full high definition and GTA fans are now flooding to X in praise of the graphics, reflecting on how far the game has come in the past 20 years.

One of Rockstar Games' GTA trailers was leaked for the second year in a row.

Rockstar Universe took to X earlier today (5 November) to share a still from Vice City alongside a still from GTA VI - showing what Vice City looked like in the 2002 versus 2025 game - when the upcoming game is set to be released.

And the results speak for themselves. I'm not even a gamer - unless you count the hours I used to spend on Simpsons Hit & Run - and I can still appreciate the beauty and skill in how much the game has developed.

One X user said: "Absolutely stunning and HUGE."

"At the time that 2002 Vice city was crazy detailed but the 2025 version is another world," another reflected.

GTA fans are getting nostalgic over comparison pictures of Vice City and GTAVI.

A third commented: "Its awesome that new tech allows them to really take a next step in the development."

"When I was growing up playing Vice City I thought the top was the bottom. Mind-blowing. Can't wait," a fourth added.

And a final resolved: "2025 almost looks real."

Despite some fans being left disappointed by one detail in the trailer, the graphics on top of the real-life references have left most blown away.

So, the only thing to do now is wait until 2025, hard luck GTA-ers. At least if 2023 is anything to go by, 2024 will whizz by in a flash.
