Couple executed after throwing man's two children out apartment window to start new family

A Chinese couple have been executed after killing the man’s children from a previous marriage.
Zhang Bo and Ye Chengchen were believed to have died from lethal injection after being sentenced to death in China.
Zhang was convicted of killing his children, daughter Zhang Ruixue and son Zhang Yangrui from a previous marriage, by throwing them out of an apartment window.
Ye was later convicted after it was determined that she had urged Zhang to kill his children, according to Chongqing No 5 Intermediate People’s Court.

The incident happened in 2020 and the children were thrown from the 15th floor of a residential tower in southwest China’s Chongqing.
Despite their previous appeals, China’s top court recently approved their death sentence which was carried out on Wednesday (January 31).
The man and woman 'violated both the law and moral limits' for the act that caused 'a terrible social influence', a Chinese court on Tuesday (February 1) while delivering the conviction.
Zhang Bo had began an extra-marital affair with Ye Chengchen while he was still in a relationship with the mother of his children.
However, following Zhang’s divorce, Ye had encouraged the father to kill his two children as she saw them as an obstacle for the pair getting married and starting their own family, according to reports.
The court was told that she saw the children as ‘burden on their future life together’.
It was also heard that Ye did not want Zhang to have children from a previous marriage.
According to the verdict, Ye told Zhang: “When the kids are gone, I will marry you… Why don’t you kill both since you will be killing anyway?”
“When Zhang Bo hesitated, Ye forced him to commit the crime, and finally he followed through with the murder.” it continued to say.
One of the children died instantly upon impact, while the other was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
After he threw his children out of the window, Zhang was reportedly seen banging his head on a wall and sobbing uncontrollably.
The children’s mother has spoken of her unfathomable grief at learning of the death of her children.
“The moment I heard my kids were actually thrown out of the 15th floor by their father and the mistress, I couldn’t find any words to describe my feelings,” she said.
“I couldn’t imagine what my kids had experienced from the 15th floor to the ground. Were they desperate? Were they afraid?”
