Miss North Carolina stripped of her crown and title after breaching her 'position of trust'

Miss North Carolina USA has been stripped of her title and crown after reportedly breaching pageant standards, the organization revealed in a cryptic post.

Brittany Boltinhouse was destined for Miss USA glory after winning the North Carolina crown on June 28, earning a place at the national pageant in Florida later this month.

But it was announced yesterday (August 5) that the 27-year-old had been dethroned, following a violation of conduct.

In a statement issued by A Blaize Productions, who runs pageants in the state, they said the decision had been made following a 'thorough review of recently surfaced information'.

Instead, runner up Myla Hadley will take her crown and place at the national pageant.

The statement explained: "We ask our pageant family, supporters, and the public to extend kindness and respect to both Brittany and Myla during this transition. Moments like these are never easy for anyone involved, and we remain committed to treating everyone with dignity while continuing our mission of empowering the next generation of women leaders."

Without going into details of the violation, Thom Brodeur, the chairman of Miss USA, pressed that the organization 'does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia nor language that strips any person of their dignity'.

Speaking of the responsibility tied to the title, the chairman added: "A title here isn't a trinket. It is a position of trust, extended by an organization and accepted by a woman who agrees to carry a standard in public.

"When that standard is broken, the title cannot continue as though nothing happened."

While stressing that the organization has a zero-tolerance policy for issues of this nature, he urged people not to vilify or harass Boltinhouse.

"There is a young woman at the center of this. She has been named, examined, and judged in public in a way that most of us would not survive, and she is still a human being with a family, a future, and a life ahead of her that is longer than this part of her journey," he wrote.

Hadley, who will now take her place, has thanked people on social media for the support she has received since being handed the crown.

She wrote: "I understand the seriousness and level of prestige that this title carries, and I can confidently say that both my team and I are ready to take this on.

"While this may seem like a two-week turnaround given the circumstances, I've been preparing to represent at Miss USA since I first competed with this organization. I am ready to represent North Carolina."

Miss USA is celebrating its 75th birthday this year, and will be held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami on August 27.
