There are plenty of polls out there revealing what Americans feel about Donald Trump, but what is the US population's thoughts on the First Lady, Melania Trump?

Melania is currently serving as First Lady for the second time after her husband, Donald, won the 2024 presidential election and returned to the White House for a second time in January 2025.

While Melania certainly remains in the shadows compared to the president, an Amazon film titled Melania offered an insight into the 55-year-old's life being married to the most powerful man in the world.

Polls in recent months have not looked too favorably on Trump, and now a recent YouGov survey has documented what Americans think of Melania compared to some of her predecessors.

According to the poll, Melania has a -16 approval rating, lower than the previous First Lady, Jill Biden (-9). Hilary Clinton, who had her own crack at becoming president in 2016, is polling lower than Melania at -17, though all three women, who have been First Ladies, are not seen favorably by the American population.

The likes of Nancy Reagan (+25), Rosalynn Carter (+32), Lady Bird Johnson (+23), Barbara Bush (+21), Michelle Obama (+21), and Laura Bush (+19) are seen as some of the more popular women who've held the position, but no doubt the best polling belongs to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis at +56, who was First Lady between 1961 and 1963 as the wife of President John F. Kennedy.

As you'd probably expect, Melania polls higher amongst Republican voters compared to Democrats.

The poll involved over 2,000 adults who were quizzed earlier this month on their thoughts regarding the First Lady and her predecessors

YouGov noted: "A random sample (stratified by gender, age, race, education, geographic region, and voter registration) was selected from the 2019 American Community Survey. The sample was weighted according to gender, age, race, education, 2024 presidential vote, 2020 election turnout and presidential vote, baseline party identification, and current voter registration status."

Melania's new documentary, for which Amazon coughed up a whopping $40 million for filming rights, released last month.

The First Lady sat down with CNN prior to the release in cinemas and insisted the project wasn't about the money.

"I’m very proud of the film so people may like it, may don’t like it, and that’s their choice," she told the outlet.

"We achieved what we want to achieve. For myself, it’s already successful. I’m very proud of what we did.”
