As per the New York Post, investigators verified the woman's identity when they were able to make contact with her on August 7.
It's reported she is staying in the Mexican state of Sinaloa.

As of now, no further details have been given as to why Ganna went to Mexico.
Ganna Kovrizhnykh last made contact with her family on July 5, and was reported missing seven days later. Her vehicle - a Jeep Grand Cherokee - and trailer were later discovered, abandoned in Potrero, which is close to the Mexican border.
At the time, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said detectives believed she may have crossed into Mexico.
"We believe she was just kind of touring the country and she left her vehicle in Potrero and never came back to her vehicle," Sergeant Jacob Klepach told KNSD.
"We don’t really have any belief one way or another at this point if there is foul play involved or if she just strictly voluntarily left."
Just days before her disappearance, the woman's mother received a photograph of a letter, which was supposedly written by her daughter.
"On 07/05/2025, Kovrizhnykh's mother received a photograph of a letter along with GPS coordinates from Potrero, California," authorities explained.

"The letter essentially provided instruction to give her personal assets to her mother."
Ganna is also said to go by the name Angel Volnay. An Instagram account under the name is up and running, although there is only one post, from 2023.
Elsewhere, she has been tagged in a number of pictures, the last one being in July 2025.
One of the captions of the posts the account is tagged in, reads: "Dear Artists, Thank you for showcasing your incredible talent at the Thrive Art District Art Walk event. Your creativity and dedication brought our community together and made the event truly memorable. We appreciate your hard work and look forward to seeing more of your inspiring art in the future."
Elsewhere, before her disappearance, Ganna was active on TikTok, with her last video posted on July 4 2025, in which she could be heard telling followers that 'aliens are not your friend'.
"Don't check for them, don't look for them," she can be heard saying.
Since her disappearance, Ganna's post has been filled with comments of people praying for her safety.
"I hope that you’re ok," said one, while another echoed: "God i pray she is ok."
