A family have spoken out about their 'nightmare' after their nanny allegedly moved into their guest house and refused to leave.
Married couple Jamie Carano Nordenström and Philip Nordenström thought they had found their dream nanny to help out with newborn life when their daughter came in 2024.
Jamie said Barbara Molnar seemed perfect as a mom-of-four with two grandchildren, plus she said she could speak German which the couple considered a plus since they wanted their baby to be raised 'at least' bilingual.
After responding to their Nanny Lane ad, Jamie and Philip hired Barbara straight off the bat on a part-time contract of 18 hours a week at $25 an hour, during which it was expected she would spend a lot of time in their restored $1 million neo-Colonial farmhouse in Hillsdale, New York, she told The Cut.

It was a match made in heaven, with Barbara baking teething biscuits and reading German books to the baby from the get-go.
However, not long after, Jamie said the nanny asked if she could move into the couple's guesthouse, seen as it was mentioned in the initial advertisement.

They eventually agreed, letting her live there without needing to pay rent since Jamie was hesitant about granting her legal status as a tenant.

The agreement quickly unravelled when Barbara appeared to run roughshod over the Nordenströms, allegedly defying rules about being pet-free by moving in her Labrador and letting her young son stay far longer than anticipated, through the Christmas break to mid-January.
The mom told the outlet that the nanny then stopped cleaning up after herself in the main house, including when her dog pooped in the garden or inside their home.
She claimed Barbara also wandered with the baby over property lines and had introduced herself as a 'neighbor' to another local instead of their au pair.
When the Nordenströms returned home from a trip, they said they found the vacuum clogged with dog hair, teenagers in their pool and their fridges so jam-packed with food that they couldn't squeeze in their own groceries.

That night, Jamie and Barbara allegedly came head-to-head, with the nanny accusing the mom of cutting short her son's party and embarrassing him in front of his buddies.
When the couple fired her eight months into the ordeal, they offered to help her find a new home and pay her through the end of the month.
However, Barbara allegedly cited her tenant's rights, stating: "You don’t know the law. This is my home, my furnished apartment. This is my designated parking space."
“We knew, at that point, that she had engaged with us to gain access to our home,” Jamie recalled to the outlet.

After seeking advice from a lawyer, the Nordenströms were told the New York State considered Barbara a licensee of the property, based on an oral agreement from the homeowner.
Jamie revoked that permission in writing and decided to hand her a 10-day notice in person as she was pulling out of the driveway.
As she did, the mom claims Barbara 'accelerated' towards her and only slammed on the brakes a matter of feet away - and even so, paid no attention to the ten-day notice.

Eventually, the Nordenströms put their foot down, filing an eviction in court where they called the ex-nanny a 'professional con-artist'. They complained about the dog to local animal control services and made several calls to the cops.
A judge ordered Barbara to vacate the premises on September 10.
When she left, Jamie said the guesthouse was soaked in urine, that suspiciously didn't appear to have come from the dog.
Barbara denied trying to run Jamie over, and further told the outlet there were only five or six children at the pool party and there were a mere 14 burgers in the fridges Jamie alleged was full.

"Maybe it was a bear," when asked about the stench of urine in the guest house.
She added she felt 'completely discredited and slandered'.
Both Barbara and Jamie were handed identical protection orders against each other by a judge.
