Greg Biffle’s final social media post before his tragic death alongside his family has revealed the romantic ‘date night’ he planned for his wife.
The 55-year-old NASCAR legend, his wife Cristina, and their two young children were tragically confirmed to have died on Thursday (December 18) after the plane they were travelling in crashed just north of a North Carolina airport.
Biffle's Cessna C550 private jet was flying to Sarasota, Florida, when it took off from Statesville Regional Airport, about an hour outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, according to data from FlightAware.
However, during the flight, the journey was aborted when the plane turned around and attempted to land. It crashed at around 10:15am and immediately burst into flames.

In a statement, NASCAR said they were 'devastated by the tragic loss of Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma [and] son Ryder'.
"Greg was more than a champion driver; he was a beloved member of the NASCAR community, a fierce competitor, and a friend to so many," they continued.
"His passion for racing, his integrity, and his commitment to fans and fellow competitors alike made a lasting impact on the sport."
It also named three other people who sadly died in the crash as Craig Wadsworth, Dennis and Jack Dutton, all 'beloved by many in the NASCAR community'.
Yet despite the heartbreaking end to his life, Biffle’s final social media post was one of heartwarming joy, as he released a YouTube video titled 'Surprised Wife with Date Night to the PRI Show’ on December 11.
In the video, Biffle surprised his wife with a trip to Indianapolis under the guise of a standard ‘date night’, yet it soon emerged he had whisked her off to the 2025 Performance Racing Industry Show instead.
The video began with Biffle smiling broadly as he guided Christina through the airport, where he teased that he had a 'little surprise' for her.
The video then revealed the surprise and charted their time at the convention before ending with a romantic meal to conclude their ‘date night’
The description of the video reads: 'We had fun seeing all the different vendors and chatting with old friends!'
Biffle and Cristina were married in January of 2023. They shared a child, Ryder Jack, who was born in September of 2020, with the driver also a doting father to a daughter, Emma Elizabeth, who was born in October of 2007 to his first wife, Nicole.
Both children sadly also died in Thursday’s crash.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway, the Federal Aviation Authority has confirmed.
The Statesville Regional Airport confirmed the crash in a statement, saying: “We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport. At approximately 10:15 a.m., an aircraft crashed while landing.
"The Federal Aviation Administration is en route and will investigate the incident.”
