Donald Trump's latest appearances leave people convinced his hair looks different

The US President has spent decades making his distinctive hairstyle part of his image, but viewers were quick to notice a change when he appeared at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas on Wednesday (August 5).

Trump, 80, was there to deliver a lengthy speech which touched on his trade dispute with Canada, White House construction and several of his usual political talking points.

Yet, as clips from the event began circulating across social media, attention was quickly directed from what the President of the United States was saying to how he was looking.

Photos and videos from recent days were soon being placed side-by-side, with users comparing his Las Vegas appearance with how he had looked during other engagements only days earlier.

It was at that point that speculation really took off, as Donald Trump's hair appeared noticeably fuller, more voluminous and a brighter shade of blond than it had in some of those recent appearances.

As pointed out by People, journalist Aaron Rupar was among those questioning the change, posting footage from the event on X (formerly Twitter) and writing: "is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?"

In another post, he added: "Trump's hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal."

Those clips quickly racked up millions of views, whilst other accounts began digging out older pictures for comparison.

For instance, the Democratic Party’s official X account shared a photo of Trump from less than three months earlier, writing: "This was Trump's hair less than 3 months ago"

Meanwhile, a pro-Trump account also weighed in on his new look.

MAGA Voice wrote: "I do NOT care what anyone says. This is proof that President Trump is aging in reverse. His hair looks absolutely amazing today"

The apparent difference was particularly striking because Trump's hair had drawn attention just days earlier.

On Sunday (August 2), footage showed him boarding Air Force One in New Jersey with his hair blowing in the wind, revealing more of his scalp than people are normally used to seeing.

His Vegas look was also compared with a Fox News at Night appearance the previous evening and a Cabinet meeting from the week before, where his hair appeared less full.

Of course, despite the online theories, there is currently no evidence Trump was wearing a wig, extensions, or had undergone any specific treatment.

Trump's grooming habits have been discussed before, however. As noted by The Daily Beast, New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan wrote in their book — Regime Change — that longtime aide Walt Nauta carried hairspray and scissors so Trump could trim his hair when it became too long at the back.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham has also previously claimed Trump sometimes cut his own hair using ‘a huge pair of scissors that could probably cut a ribbon at an opening of one of his properties.’
