A doctor has revealed the biggest myth that we have all believed about losing weight, and it’ll shock you to your core.
A lot of us want to lose weight and have tried everything from fasting, cutting down on junk food, eating a strict diet, or just detoxing with an all-liquid diet. Sadly, the results aren’t great.
But this could be because of a ‘lie’ we’ve all been told and continue to believe.
While a lot of people have chosen to opt into taking drugs like Ozempic to aid their weight loss efforts, others prefer a more natural approach to losing the pounds. But it can be hard to stick to when things don’t seem to be improving.

However, once you know this ‘lie’, you might be able to change the way you think about your foods.

Dr. Eric Berg is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting and is the Director of Dr. Berg Nutritionals and author of the best-selling book The Healthy Keto Plan.
He regularly talks about healthy living and has told his YouTube subscribers the one thing they’ve believed about weight loss, just isn’t true.

He said in his video: “Today we're going to talk about the biggest lie about weight loss, dieting, and trying to lose your belly fat. This lie has been going around for decades.
“You may have accepted this mainstream lie because it's taught in all the different universities and continue to use it over and over again.
“What is this lie? It's this: weight loss is just a matter of eating fewer calories than you're burning.”
He explained that when we are told there ‘is no one bad food’ and to eat ‘everything in moderation’, it's actually something that was spun by the junk food industry to keep people consuming their products that make us want more and more.

He explained that the weight loss industry has convinced the public that losing weight is ‘just a matter of eating fewer calories than you're burning’, but those types of diets ‘will not work’. Dr Berg shared that while you’re focusing on the number of calories, you should instead be focusing on the types of calories instead.
You should also be focusing on your insulin and blood sugar as insulin delegates whether fat is burned or stored in the body.
He said: “All calories are not the same! Let’s look at the hormone insulin, which tells calories where to go.
“If insulin is high, your carbohydrates will be stored as fat. If it’s low, those calories will be burned. All it takes is a small amount of carbohydrates to raise insulin and prevent your body from burning fat.”

Even the Mayo Clinic shares that insulin and calories go hand in hand, and if you have more calories than your cells need, it'll turn into fat.
People online were shocked by his revelation, with one stating: "They told us fat was the enemy, but sugar was quietly destroying everything. Biggest bait and switch in health history. That's what I've learned after reading 'Secrets To Perfect Health' by Nathan Cole, it's one book I suggest everyone to read!"
Another said: "Who would have believed that 1 of the most important health tips you can get, will be a 6 minutes video you can watch FOR FREE?!"
So, what can you do to help this?

Well, a few things include eating fiber, or choose different foods to curb your appetite. For example, instead of eating a carb like pasta, opt for a complex carb which is less likely to spike your insulin so much. This could be sweet potatoes, whole wheat, or legumes. There’s also fiber, which can fill you up, and manage your insulin spike.
“Fiber can help buffer a blood sugar spike. Orange juice without the fiber will increase your blood sugar significantly more than whole oranges with fiber,” the doc said.
Choosing cod liver oil over Crisco fat to get your omega-3, eating a diet that is more nutrient-dense and satisfying are all things to change to help you lose weight.
The doctor said: “You will not lose weight if your calories don’t satisfy you. Unsustainable diets leave you feeling hungry all the time. The more nutrient-dense a food is, the more satisfying it will be. The source of the calories matters!”

He went on to say that synthetic sugars like high fructose corn syrup can overload your liver, and honey is the best alternative that’s easy to metabolize,
“If you’re struggling to lose weight, realizing that calorie counting doesn’t work is essential”, Berg concluded.
