Iconic house from Steven Spielberg's The Goonies is available to buy

The four-bed home in Oregon is up for grabs

If you're a fan of The Goonies, the house from the classic film could be yours - provided you have quite a lot of money.

The home from the 1985 Steven Spielberg movie went on the market earlier this week, and immediately there was a lot of interest.

"Within 72 hours of listing, the world is showing exactly how much impact this movie has had on hearts and minds over the years," Broker Jordan Miller, of John L. Scott Real Estate, told The New York Post.

"People from many countries and all walks of life are calling to inquire about how they can be the next owner of this iconic property."

The four-bedroom house is located on a cul-de-sac in the coastal city of Astoria, Oregon, and is situated by the Pacific Ocean and the Columbia river.

In the listing, the 2,000 square foot property looks pretty damn beautiful - but it will set you back $1,650,000 (£1,387,895).

And as well as having this amount of cash, there is another expectation of prospective buyers.

"It has to be someone who appreciates this movie and the history of this movie and this beautiful town," Miller told KOIN.

To be fair, that would probably be for the best, given that fans of the film often descend upon it.

In 2015, to mark the film's 30th anniversary, flocks of Goonies lovers visited the house. In fact, the situation got so bad that members of the public were barred from visiting it, after continually ignoring signposts asking that they stay away.

Owner Sandi Preston recently allowed people to visit the house once again, but now she's evidently decided it's time to move on.

Speaking to Willamette Week, she said: "There were so many comments and everything about it.

"The people who come seem to be a lot better than what was here before."

She continued: "We were getting such a large amount of people – like, I don't know, right around 1,500 a day. It was pretty overwhelming to the neighbourhood."
