An influencer has opened up about why she eats raw meat, and in doing so received a barrage of abuse - with one person claiming her diet is 'what vegans should be worried about'.

Ashley English, an American living in Australia, has amassed more than 170,000 followers across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, as she shares her health journey.

The 25-year-old posts frequent videos of her embracing nature, as well as showcasing her bizarre diet - which consists of raw meat and raw milk, among other items.

If you scroll through Ashley's social media accounts, you'll come across a number of videos of her narrating what she 'ate today', and while they are certainly fascinating and worth a watch, she has received backlash for her eating habits.

On one of her Instagram posts, she accompanied the clip with a lengthy caption, which read: "I always get asked: why do you eat raw meat and why don’t you cook your meat?"

I mean, that's a fair question if I've ever heard one.

Anyway, back to her post: "My philosophy when it comes to nutrition is to always listen to your body. If you are in alignment with the rhythms of the natural world and connecting to the frequency of the Earth, then I believe the body will instinctually lead you to your greatest health if you listen to it.

"I personally prefer the taste of raw meat and also how I feel when I eat raw animal foods. Cooked meat is just not appealing to me at all at this time. It is also said that raw meat contains more hydration and bioavailable vitamins, minerals, and nutrients than cooked meat.

"Everyone is different and your genetics and where you live locationally on Earth all play a role in what the best nutrition for your body is. If you want to tap into your body’s innate and natural wisdom, get in tune with your natural environment."

She continued: "Assimilate to the world around you as you are meant to by spending time outside, receiving sun in the mornings and evenings, and getting barefoot to ground & connect with the frequency of the Earth.

"As you do this, you may notice any cravings you have for processed 'food' lacking in real energy and life force completely fall away. This is because you are attuning yourself to a natural and higher frequency where your body will crave the real foods it truly wants and needs for proper health.

"Live as you are meant to live- as a part of nature. It can be so simple."

While Ashley's diet is certainly interesting, the comments she received were predominately from jokers.

"This is the diet my dog follows," one person typed, as another commented: "You ancestors didn't receive the 'cooked meal' update?"

While a third penned: "Now THIS is what vegans should be worried about."
