Eerie body cam footage of Tyler Robinson speaking to police years before Charlie Kirk was assassinated

Long before he would be accused of killing Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson was caught on camera talking to police

Years before he would go on to be arrested on suspicion of murdering political activist Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson was caught on police bodycam talking to officers.

The 22-year-old student has been charged with aggravated murder, after Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was killed with a single shot to the neck.

Father-of-two Charlie Kirk was on his 'American Comeback Tour' of college campuses, when he was answering questions at Utah Valley University. He had just answered a question about gun violence when he was shot in front of a packed crowd, with violent video of the scene going viral online.

Following a 33-hour manhunt, Tyler Robinson was arrested and has since made his first court appearance, clad in what appeared to be a vest to prevent him from harming himself.

Now, archive footage of Robinson speaking to police officers has been unearthed by Scripps News.

Dating back to 2022, it features the student talking to authorities, explaining how his Audi collided with another car at an intersection.

He is heard telling officers: "(The other driver) would've been there going left, and as I was coming through, he turned in, and I T-boned into the side of him.

"Just as I left the house, I put oil in it. Just topped it off."

Robinson, who was 19 at the time of the incident, was accompanied by his younger brother.

He tells police that their mother is on the way to provide insurance details, which she duly does and gives their information to the police.

Robinson's Audi had crashed into a Ford sedan, but nobody was injured and no citations were issued in the incident. Throughout the footage, Robinson remains calm, polite and apologetic for what happened.

Commenters rushed to leave their thoughts about the future attacker: "This boy was strange wasn't he? His odd behavior here makes me wonder what type of parents he had, because he seems emotionless. Maybe he was a bit shocked due to the accident," questioned one.

"As a mother I just cannot imagine what his mother is going through. What a waste of life. The entire thing is tragic and awful. Rest in peace Charlie," added another.

"I am praying for him, he is just 22 years old, I'm hoping for life in prison," wrote one viewer.

Others questioned his use of the word 'car' instead of 'vehicle in the video, after texts he allegedly sent his roommate about the rifle which was discovered, saying "I’m wishing I had circled back and grabbed it as soon as I got back to my vehicle."

"He is saying car not vehicle!" exclaimed one, while another conspiracy theorist alleged "It just proves that the text messages released by the police are fabricated."

Robinson was told at the first hearing that he would remain in custody without bail until his next scheduled court date, September 29.
