Fans have leapt to Charlize Theron's defence after the star compared herself to Kim Kardashian in a recent interview.
The Oscar winner said she finds it difficult getting films made because she hasn’t reached a certain ‘level’ of stardom, which then comes with fewer business opportunities.
But many people are surprised she's compared herself to the reality TV star - particularly when you take a look back at her career.

Theron has starred in some pretty iconic films including The Devil's Advocate, The Italian Job and Mighty Joe Young. She even received an Academy Award for Best Actress when she portrayed serial killer, Aileen Wuornos, in Monster.
But that's not all, the actor has also won a Golden Globe and was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time in 2016, so it seems ludicrous that she doesn't hold herself in higher regard.
“I feel like I’m at a place where it is what it is,” Theron told Harper’s Bazaar. “Working more isn’t, I think, going to change my level of fame. It has always been a mediocre ride.
“I’ve never been one of those people that’s at a Kim Kardashian level.”

The actor said she finds it difficult to finance the films she wants to make and that can be down to a decline in fame, in part, as the industry requires more when it evaluates pitches.
She said: “I will say, back in the day, it used to be like, you want to have some of this fame so you can go make the sh*t that you really want to make. But now it’s like, I pitch sh*t all day long and people are like, ‘No, thanks.’ I’m like, ‘I guess that’s not cash in the bank anymore.’ And that’s nice. It’s nice that you’re making things on the merit of how good they are versus the idea of like, ‘Oh, you’re this thing, and we want to be in business with that thing.’”
But many people are shocked that Theron feels this way and leapt to her defence, especially as she has starred in some extremely prominent films of the 21st Century.

Others questioned why she would compare herself to the reality TV star in the first place.
“Why would she compare herself to that? She’s beyond that level. CT a legendary respected actress. Not a novelty star,” said one social media user.
Another commented: “If she is insecure, imagine how the rest of the world feels. There is an unrealistic expectation of beauty and zero ageing. This actually upsets me.”

While another said: “I’m shocked that she doesn’t hold herself in higher regard considering the length of her career and impressive movie catalogue.”
Kim Kardashian, who has 330 million Instagram followers, rose to fame as Paris Hilton’s stylist before her sex tape got leaked. The star has since taken reality TV and social media by storm, going on to launch her own beauty and perfume lines as well as her recent shapewear line, Skims.
Theron, who has seven million Instagram followers in comparison, will next be seen starring in the Fast X and The Old Guard 2 sequels.
