Adam Sandler hired woman to play waitress in movie before becoming his wife in real life

Sandler and his wife Jackie tied the knot more than 20 years ago after meeting on a movie set

With over 80 acting titles under his belt, Adam Sandler is the crème de la crème of comedy.

While it won’t come as much of a surprise to hear the former SNL star has acted on screen in almost 100 different things, we bet you can’t pinpoint which of those movies Sandler met his wife in.

Sandler and his wife Jackie tied the knot more than 20 years ago after meeting on the set of 1999’s Big Daddy, according to People.

At the time, Jackie was a budding actor and model, and under the recommendation of Sandler’s pal and collaborator Rob Schneider, scored the role.

If none of this is ringing any bells, it’s probably because Jackie only popped up on screen for a short time when she took Sandler’s character’s drinks order in a sports bar.

When Sandler marked their anniversary back in August 2020, he even mentioned their very first meeting, writing on social media: “22 years ago today we locked eyes and fell deep. Look forward to the next 22, young lady. Love you my forever girl.”

The pair, who share teenage daughters Sunny and Sadie, got married in Malibu in 2003 during a Jewish ceremony.

Since kicking off their romance, Jackie has appeared in many of her husband’s films, including Grown Ups, Just Go With It, 50 First Dates, Hotel Transylvania and Murder Mystery.

Back in 2002, Sandler spilled on his proposal when speaking to ABC, admitting he was seriously nervous before popping the question.

“I played basketball that afternoon, trying to calm down, and then I was driving. I was saying stuff out loud and trying to, you know, make sure I hit all of the right things so she would remember nice stuff, and I did all right,” he recalled.

“She called her grandmother right after, and her mother, and they all said, yeah, I heard the applause over the phone and stuff.”

After Jackie gave birth to his first daughter in 2006, Sandler sweetly told Access Hollywood: “When my kid was born, I was so nervous, I didn’t know what I felt.

“Five minutes later, maybe 10 minutes later, it was me and the kid and a nurse. We walked down alone to just check the vital signs and all that stuff, and I had a chemical reaction in my body, where I loved the kid so much, and I was so nervous for her, and that’s when I lost my mind for the kid.”

All together now: Awww!
