A publisher is undoubtedly rubbing its hands together after Taylor Swift fans made a mysterious new book a bestseller, convincing themselves the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer wrote it.

Bad news, guys - Variety has since confirmed the book actually has nothing to do with Swift.

Swifties have been known to be a pretty intense bunch, and pieced together a series of ‘clues’ to arrive at the conclusion that an untitled book with a mystery author by Macmillan imprint Flatiron must have been penned by their idol.

You’d think Tay Tay would be a little busy to crank a book out, what with her being in the middle of her Eras tour which recently saw her get pelted with rain as she performed.

She's also split from her partner of six years, Conversations with Friends actor Joe Alwyn, and is now being linked with headline-grabbing The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.

Nevertheless, Swifties are so certain she’s behind Flatiron’s untitled book that they’re rushing to pre-order it.

Though it’s currently sitting at #31 on the Amazon bestsellers chart, it previously ranked as high as #2. It also rose to the top of Barnes & Noble’s pre-orders chart.

All pretty impressive for a book we know absolutely nothing about.

A screenshot which some claim to be a pitch for the book on digital publishing catalog Edelweiss read: “This is not a political book, it is a fun, celebratory title and will skew slightly younger, but is for people of all ages.

Taylor Swift fans think she's the author of a mysterious new book.

“This has global appeal and will have massive publicity. I would comp this to Flatiron’s Matthew Perry memoir... and a little bit to Spare by Prince Harry.”

It’s understandable why some people think this could be written by Swift, but there’s also a number of other celebs who would fit the bill

Let’s take a look at the ‘evidence’ leading Swifties to part with their hard-earned cash and pre-order the title.

So, a document - which Twitter users claim is from Flatiron - says the author of the book will be revealed on June 13, with 13 being known as Swift’s lucky number.

The page count is also 544 and what does 5 plus 4 plus 4 equal? 13!

The release date of the untitled book is also July 9 - a key date in Swift lore for some quite complicated reasons.

Variety confirmed Taylor Swift is not the book's author.

The date is mentioned in Speak Now track ‘Last Kiss’, and is rumoured to reference a day in 2010 when she flew out to meet her then-boyfriend Joe Jonas.

With Swift set to release Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on July 7, Swift’s fans are even more convinced this is all a breadcrumb trail to tease Taylor’s new book.

Except, Variety says it can ‘can report for certain that this mystery author is not, as rumored, Taylor Swift’.

The outlet added: “She is not gearing up to release a memoir almost simultaneously with her next album and smack in the middle of a national stadium tour, which might count as an excessive exercise in synergy even for someone as capable of project-multitasking as a Taylor Swift.”

UNILAD has contacted Flatiron and a representative for Taylor Swift for a comment.
