Katy Perry’s hilarious reaction when she realizes ex John Mayer is sitting behind her has fans ‘screaming’

Katy Perry had a very relatable reaction when she recently bumped into her ex boyfriend, John Mayer.

Perry is currently engaged to Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares four-year-old daughter Daisy with. But before meeting her Lord of the Rings star beau, Perry dated fellow singer Mayer.

It's believed the celebrity pair dated on-and-off for three years before calling it quits for a final time in 2015.

Speaking back in 2013, 'Roar' hitmaker Perry said she'd been 'madly in love' with Mayer.

"I was madly in love with him," she told Vogue at the time. "I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind.

"Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds."

Now, almost a decade on from their split, Perry and Mayer bumped into one another at a Sabrina Carpenter concert in Los Angeles.

Perry was sat in the front row, with Mayer sat one seat and one row behind her.

The moment Mayer shuffled into his seat was documented by a fellow concert-goer, which caught the moment Perry clocked him.

In the now-viral clip, the 40-year-old sees Mayer, turns and bows her head in almost embarrassment. She then turns back round to the singer and shakes his hand.

Perry's reaction has left people 'screaming' as many of her fans related to her reaction to seeing Mayer.

"She’s so real how could you not love her," one person wrote on Twitter.

A second said: "Really Katy's face when she saw John Mayer was pure gold—she's all of us in that moment! Awkward, iconic, and hilariously relatable."

Elsewhere, she was applauded for being somewhat mature about the situation.

"To think she's the one who initiated the hand shake tells a lot about her... always the bigger person," one of her fans said.

People also said they were shocked to see the duo back together again - and from Katy's reaction, so was she.

Someone said: "Katy Perry and John Mayer interaction wasn't on my 2024 bingo card."

And a different person echoed: "Of all the things I imagine happening in 2024, the only one that didn't cross my mind was John Mayer and Katy Perry talking, omg."

While the pair are former flames, everything seemed totally cordial between them - and they certainly weren't the only famous faces at Carpenter's concert over the weekend.

The likes of Cara Delevingne, Robin Thicke, Petra Ecclestone, Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch, and Sarah Michelle Gellar were also in attendance, Mail Online reports.
