Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton’s New Year’s Eve performance has been hailed one of the ‘greatest of all time’ after they treated fans to banger after banger of their respective hits.

The duo teamed up in Miami for Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party - the second star-studded annual event - on 31 December, treating the audience to a musical medley of legendary proportions.

Cyrus and her godmother Parton helped others welcome 2023 in style, singing their way through the likes of ‘Wrecking Ball’, ‘Jolene’ and Joan Jett’s ‘I Love Rock and Roll’.

Speaking to the crowd, Parton said: “This is the thrill of my life tonight to get to host the show with Miley.

“We know how much I’ve loved her since she was a little ol’ bitty thing – now she’s a big ol’ thing, and I still love her!”

Turning to Cyrus, she then sang with a smile: “I will always love you!”

Cyrus then told her: “That’s how I feel about you, Aunt Dolly. To stand on the stage and bring in 2023 with my godmother and all of you here in Miami, it has been a privilege and a pleasure.

“We have just loved the time that we’ve gotten to spend together, and you all brought us together closer than we’ve ever been before, so we’re grateful for that.”

And fans seemed to be equally as delighted to see the pair on stage together.

“This Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton medley is one of the greatest performances of all time,” one tweeted.

Someone else agreed: “The best NYE show and duo. I got chills. You need to sing together more.”

Their rendition of ‘Wrecking Ball’ into ‘I Will Always Love You’ - the latter of which was written for Whitney Houston by Parton – proved to be a particular hit with fans, with one saying it was one of the ‘most beautiful performances’ they’d ever seen.

Another added: “This was phenomenal. Every. Single. Second.”

The pair also performed 'Jolene'.

A third said: “I will always love Dolly and Miley is the real deal. Touching and powerful duet.”

Recently, Cyrus responded to the idea of her playing her godmother in a biopic, joking that she’s always shown her inner Dolly.

Speaking to E! News, she said: "I don't know what they're gonna do to me. I'm sucked, I'm tucked and plucked, just like she taught me.

"Me and Dolly have never really spoken, honestly, about me playing Dolly because I feel like I'm already doing it."
