Chris Brown Ends Viral Debate Over Whether He's Better Than Michael Jackson

The Kiss Kiss singer called the internet’s comparisons 'Cap' during an interview on an American radio show.

Chris Brown has ended a viral debate over whether he's better than Michael Jackson once and for all.

Brown has long been compared to Jackson, having famously given a musical tribute to the late icon at the 2010 BET Awards.

Not only that but Brown’s peers have also given him the title.

Notably, rapper 50 Cent claimed in 2019 that Brown was 'better than' the late music icon and declared him the new king of pop in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Now, however, Brown has put the matter to bed once and for all.

The Kiss Kiss singer called the internet’s comparisons 'Cap', slang for a lie or an exaggeration, during an interview on American radio show Big Boy's Neighborhood on Monday night, 20 June.

Clearing the air on the matter, he said: "I stay the hell up out of [that argument.] I'ma keep it 100. I kind of back off of it.

"My personal take on it, I wouldn't even be breathing or even be able to sing a song if that man didn't exist. So, I don't know if they look at it as a [Michael] Jordan and Kobe [Bryant] thing but I don't."

The star, 33, added that Jackson is 'light years ahead' in talent compared to him and admitted he’s got 'shrines' to the king of pop around his home.

He added: "I can't even look at it. He's light years away. There is no competing. Hell no. I got shrines and s**t of this man hanging up in my house. Hell nah, I ain't better than him."

Adding to the debate in 2019, Justin Bieber praised Brown’s talent on social media, sharing an image titled 'The Legendary Equation', which read: "Michael Jackson plus Tupac equals Chris Brown."

Alongside the post, the Holy hitmaker wrote, "Everyone wants to wait 'til people die to give them the credit they deserve.

"I'm calling it now – when CB passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time... trust me watch you will see."

In light of his comments, many praised Brown for being humble about the comparison on Twitter.

One wrote: "You cannot compare chris to his goat that's disrespectful to MJ" (sic).

"Chris Brown being real. Now ya'll stop that nonsense of comparing him to MJ, even Chris knows the truth that Mike is the goat and there is no one in his level!" another posted.

A third shared: "Comparing MJ to Chris Brown is one of the most egregious offenses I’ve witnessed in my lifetime."
