Grown Ups star Jake Goldberg has taken on entirely new career while cast reunite for third movie

More than a decade after he last appeared in the Grown Ups franchise, Jake Goldberg has built an entirely new career away from Hollywood — and now he is preparing to reunite with Adam Sandler and the rest of the cast.

Goldberg played Greg Feder, the son of Sandler’s character Lenny, in the 2010 comedy before reprising the role in Grown Ups 2 three years later.

The films also starred Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello, with Netflix now bringing familiar faces back for a third instalment.

For Goldberg, though, the return comes after years outside acting. As previously noted in LADbible, he stepped away from the industry, attended the University of Colorado Boulder and gradually built a sizeable online following around something completely different.

These days, the former child star is best known to hundreds of thousands of followers as a food content creator.

Using the name ‘silly_jake’ online, Goldberg regularly posts cooking videos, recipes and clips of himself trying different foods, with his Instagram account now sitting at around 700,000 followers.

His TikTok profile has more than 386,000 followers and 11.7 million likes, and his Instagram bio even directs people to a page collecting his recipes.

His feed is packed with kitchen videos covering everything from full meals to snacks and ingredients, although he has never exactly hidden where many people first saw him.

Goldberg’s TikTok bio still reads: “That kid from Grown Ups and Pablo in the Backyardigans.”

For those who don’t know about the latter, before appearing as Greg, Goldberg was also known for voicing Pablo the Penguin in the children’s animated series The Backyardigans.

After Grown Ups 2, though, acting stopped being his main focus for several years. Goldberg spoke about that period in 2023 after a TikTok follower asked whether he still spoke to Sandler.

He replied: “For those who don't know I was Greg Fader in Grown Ups 1 and Grown Ups 2, Adam Sandler's son.

“The answer to your question is no I don't. He's had a lot of stuff, I was also super young. I stopped acting for five years, went to college and all that good stuff.”

Goldberg made clear there was no apparent falling-out between them, adding: “It's been a while, I should reach out though, see how he's doing. Great guy.”

Three years later, the pair are now heading back to the same film set.

As reported by Variety, Netflix confirmed on August 6 that Goldberg is part of the Grown Ups 3 cast, alongside Sandler and returning stars including James, Rock, Spade, Schneider, Hayek, Rudolph and Bello.

Production has already started in New Jersey, while Sandler is writing the movie with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy and Kyle Newacheck is directing.

The official logline reads: “Now that their kids are all grown up, the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure.”
