A new Pixar short film will soon drop on Disney+ and there's no doubt it will be an emotional one.

Dug Days: Carl's Date will see Carl Fredricksen from the legendary movie Up go on his first date since his beloved Ellie died.

The opening scenes in Up are regarded by many as some of the most heartbreaking in cinematic history.

We get to see Carl and Ellie's romance blossom over the years as they get married, build their life together, struggle to have a child, find their happiness, and grow old together.

Sadly though, Ellie dies and leaves Carl as a devastated and lonely widower.

Thankfully, the rest of Up isn't as much of a tearjerker, however you better get those tissues ready if you're going to watch Dug Days: Carl's Date.

It's set to land on the streaming service on February 10, and it will certainly get those emotions flowing.

One person on Twitter wrote: "I’m happy for my boy, Carl, but I’m not emotionally ready for him to move on."

Another added: "Up gonna make me cry again. Still haven’t recovered from this."

A third said: "Man you know Pixar is gonna make a very emotional tribute to him too."

The short film was first teased by Pixar when it released a video showing what we can expect in 2023.

Carl's Date got a mere flash on the screen during the 30-second teaser and all we've been given since then is a brief synopsis.

"Carl Fredricksen reluctantly agrees to go on a date with a lady friend—but admittedly has no idea how dating works these days," the plot says, according to WhatsOnDisneyPlus.

"Ever the helpful friend, Dug steps in to calm Carl’s pre-date jitters and offer some tried-and-true tips for making friends—if you’re a dog."

What's even more incredible is that we will get to hear the voice actor who played Carl in Up again.

Ed Asner portrayed the character in the 2009 film and he sadly passed away in August 2021.

But, it appears Dug Days: Carl's Date has been in the works for a while.

Director Bob Peterson wrote on Twitter: "A new episode of Dug Days is on its way in 2023!

"It's called 'Carl's Date', and we are so excited to share it with you all.

"And YES the great ED ASNER recorded new lines for this episode before he passed. He did an amazing job."

That will definitely be music to people's ears.

Dug Days: Carl's Date will be ready for viewing on February 10.

The episode is a part of the Dug Days series, which already has five episodes, and explores the life of the hilarious and happy golden retriever named Dug.
